Aaron Calixte - Maine guard. Will be grad transfer. Big scorer

Played in American East vs Pikiell as a freshman and sophomore. Have no idea of interest either way

No to any grad transfer. No! No! No!

Only caveat would be a point guard if Corey leaves OR if staff isn’t sure about Shaq Carter

Otherwise. NO! No! NO!

There is 1 basketball, 200 minutes, and no shot of NCAAs next year.

Only 2 grad transfers to consider
1. Sheridan
2. Joe Mama
3. Sid Finch

If we can land a 3 point shooter who plays SF we take that grad transfer without thinking twice. With that said, the kid in the OP is not someone we want

Truth is you'd probably want him if we could get him. There's no need if Corey decides to stay, if he decides to go I'm not sure we could get Calixte even if we wanted him. Unless there's some late action in the 18 class this roster will need a grad transfer badly.

Here's one interesting guy. No idea obviously of his academics or interest in transferring anywhere...

Shadrac Casimir from Iona - Been there for four years but still a junior due to injury. Shot over 40% from three every year including 46.3% this year. Very small, though, at 5-10, 165 and nobody plays defense in the MAAC so he'd be a liability on that end.

I'd be happy to play a guy like that for eight minutes a game and let him get two or three shots up. Basically Jake Dadika this year but a better and more willing shooter.

Then again, I'd much rather get a quality sit-out transfer (like the Martin twins, or Vance Jackson, all of whom Pikiell pursued) than a grad transfer.

I agree about no 5th year player unless he is a total buy in player from minute one like Getty’s was

Strickland and Hyatt this year

Hyatt (if he is 2019), Mulchay and Dixon 8

We are bringing in 3 new wing players next year without losing any, Mathis, Harper and Kiss. Two are 3 point shooting threats. Meanwhile we have one guy, a combo guard in Baker having to play point instead of both guard positions. We are losing combo guard Williams, emergency point guard in Dadika, and we know Souf is not the answer. Even if Sanders comes back which I dont expect, we need another PG. If he is gone, picking up one point guard makes us still incredibly vulnerable. Look how Mike Williams being out affected us. We should be looking at one position right now

If you use this as a baseline....

Assume Sanders leaves......
Baker 34 Souf 6
Mathis 30 Kiss 10
Issa 20 Kiss 14 Harper 6
Gene 24 Issa 4 Carter 12
Doorson 10 Carter 12 Duke 9 Johnson 9

Baker 34
Mathis 30
Kiss 24
Gene 24
Carter 24
Issa 24
Doorson 10
Duke 9
Johnson 9
souf 6
Harper 6

You bring in a 5th year grad for what purpose? whose minutes do you cut? Why? I see only 1 type of player I bring in.

If you want to tell me Issa just isn't going to make the necessary adjustments/improvements in the off season maybe a debate can be had, but i'd still rather allocate those minutes to others.

This was the same discussion last year, once we lost Nigel Johnson and Souf was the roster replacement....while on paper, it wasn't actually Souf, it was Baker, the net positive was enormously positive (IMO).

There is absolutely no way, I am bringing in any grad transfer at any position, unless it is a clear starter at the SF or C....no guards and no PF....

True point guard should be the #1 priority (Tai Strickland)..

I think you guys are right.... Once you start listing all the names it appears that grad transfer is not a priority. Kiss and Mathis have to come in as shooters/scorers.

Souf for six minutes a game?

Sid Finch plays baseball.

A team cant have a rotation of 11 guys with only 1 of those 11 able to play point guard and relying on that one to play 34 minutes .... Whats the plan if Geo gets hurt or sick? Or he gets into early foul trouble ? Souf??? They need a point guard who can be relied on to play when needed ... A grad transfer if available should be picked up

If we can get Strickland, bring him here regardless of Corey staying or not. If he stays, someone has to leave. Wouldn’t want it to have to be Doorsan but it might be the only option if bullock and Mensah refuse to leave. It all sounds disrespectful to these kids and they were offered the scholarships so it’s not their fault. Two spots on next years team are unfortunately filled by guys who shouldn’t be on the court with a big 10 program as scholarship players. There’s not really another nice way of saying it?

Dixon is out of our range. Villanova, Virginia, and Xavier fighting hard for him (per Zagoria)
