Even if it was the right call, why call it and let him get a practice kick in? That kick led to Bielema realizing he couldn’t make it. It also would have let the kicker adjust based on the first strike.

You don’t ice a kicker on a field goal that is impossible, Bielema sent a kicker out for a 57 yard kick into the wind it was impossible. You wanted them kicking the field goal. He called timeout, Illinois then saw that it was impossible and rethought and finally made the right decision. That was all Greg’s handiwork, you don’t ice a kicker when you want him kicking!!!!!
As stupid as icing the K was, it was 4th & 13 guys. How about the D steps up and makes a play?!

The blitz call on the next play is just as bad. Play defense, stop them and it’s over. They needed so much to go right there and we let it happen
The timeout was bad. Bringing the pass rush instead of pass prevent was plain stoopid.
If he had done it before he actually kicked the ball. The kick allowed the kicker to adjust AND changed the mind of the Illinois staff after seeing the kick.
And the thing is this undeniably his call. Nobody to blame. It's his thing icing kickers. His call, his consequences.
