still not a fan of it and I thought state employees in NJ couldn't hire family that report to them.Coaches do this all the time.
Wouldn’t have matter. Brilliant Schiano and DC Joe allowed WR #13 to run free all game. Burned us for 200 yards. Not even a thought to put double coverage on him. That’s why you rush 3 and drop 8.
We blitzed several times and never got to the QB. Monumentally stupid to send the house.
So true.20-20 hindsight coaching. It was a good call. If the kick was good and taken away due to the T/O, people would’ve been thanking god for the call.
People are being emotional and not thinking it through. We had a 6 v 1 on that last play and just needed to tackle the WR in bounds and we would’ve won. Wasn’t coaches who didn’t make the easy play.
The d stopped them and created a 4th and 13 at midfield this created an impossible fg with 14 seconds left and Illinois with no timeouts. Their job was to keep the ball in front of them and not give up the sideline. The players did their job. The coaching decisions let them down.So true.
BTW, Illinois got the ball at their own 25 with a little more than a minute left in the game. Rutgers had multiple chances to stop them and end the game as they moved down the field into RU territory. The defense failed. The winning td was just the last in a series of bad defensive plays. They made the Illinois QB look like Mahomes in the fourth quarter.
Yeah, they took a beating, with players getting hurt during the game.So true.

Yeah. Most people said don't ice the kicker and Schiano did it anyway. Were you at the game? The wind was noticeably affecting the game to the point that snacks and trash were flying throughout the stadium. It was the coach's job to assess the situation Illinois was facing and for a guy who gets paid $6 million a year, he did worse than his own fans in this moment.Yeah, okay. Most of the fans were saying "don't ice the kicker, don't ice the kicker" before Schiano called the TO. Sure they were.
Most of the fans saw the kick go up and miss and were celebrating when we all suddenly were made aware of the TO. And it wasn't until that moment that anybody gave a TO any thought at all. And then all the hindsight started kicking in.
Trying to pretend that isn't what happened is ridiculous.
Now you can move on.
I don’t care if Schiano gets fired or not. I never wanted him back in the first place. I’m not defending him. I don’t get emotionally attached to coaches.Yeah. FTR, I'm not saying fire Greg. But the program needs to adapt and make changes going forward for the next upcoming seasons. This was an easy schedule without PSU, OSU, and Michigan. We might not be bowl eligible if that were any different and I'm concerned that the program could regress if Greg lets recruiting drop and his development skills as a coach deteriorate as he gets older.
If we get 6-6 or 8-4 seasons, I will die happy as an RU fan. This game did not necessarily give me the confidence that this will be the case going forward.
We know where Greg's ceiling lies as this point and the credit he deserves. It's not the end of the world if we end up having to rebuild either. Schiano will be remembered as the coach that saved our program in school history regardless if he were to stay or go in these next years.
Great take buddy. Schiano is a great program builder and a solid fella. But that decision in real time has to be better. Has to be.Yeah. I'm friends with former players and the like and the text messages that went around over the past 24hrs are far from complimentary. This morning SEC show referenced the RU game; that's how bonehead the decision wasYou can't make this up! I was in a shopping mall earlier today. An older woman (not as old as me) saw my RU sweatshirt and said "What's up with Schiano?"
