The kids are cute. But is there any plan to bring back some of the better halftime entertainment from the past?
Don’t know the answer, but those kids/league pay Rutgers to play at halftime vs Rutgers having to pay entertainment. I agree about rather seeing entertainment like we used to at halftime. I can guarantee that Hobbs' New JMA Playhouse with premium seating and corporate partners will not have this Kid Halftime Bonanza every game! Hobbs will want to entertain his new friends with only the best!
Come on people did not go to the games to see the drums of thunder!!When the building is constantly sold out, is there a need for halftime entertainment? They used to have to advertise things like drums of thunder to fill seats not that long ago. Don't think this is the case anymore.
Where did you get the info that those kids have to pay RU??Don’t know the answer, but those kids/league pay Rutgers to play at halftime vs Rutgers having to pay entertainment. I saw it last year on Rutgers Ticket site I believe.....mind you it's not a huge amount of money. I remember being surprised at how inexpensive it was.Where did you get the info that those kids have to pay RU??
I'm not so sure you're really getting that many more local eyes. It's not like anyone watching on TV can actually see those kids playing at halftime on a broadcast or even at the game. It’s not only that. We’re at a crossroads (finally have a decent program) trying to boost our casual NJ fan following. Think of how many local eyes we’re getting to tune into the Rutgers vs Howard broadcast that otherwise wouldn’t. If my boys were playing in one of those games, lots of families in our school would tune in to watch even if they don’t follow Rutgers. We would do the same for the baseball or football kids if they were featured at a game. That’s just how it works. So multiply by all the kids playing in each game you do this for and it is a way to boost casual engagement. I agree it’s not terribly interesting to watch little kids that you don’t know play BB - but it isn’t very long. Most people go get a snack or use the bathroom anyway.
Did the Drums of Thunder leader retire? Or did it fall victim to budget cuts?IIRC the " better" entertainment was around last year for some of the B1G games.
Sadly, drums.of thunder has disbanded, but Red Panda was there last year as well as 2(?) dog acts.
That's a shame about drums of thunder - I really enjoyed them.IIRC the " better" entertainment was around last year for some of the B1G games.

Usually the TV broadcast shows at least a minute or so of the halftime show doesn’t it? Admittedly I didn’t pay attention to what was shown for the Howard game at halftime… I was playing candy land with my daughter.I'm not so sure you're really getting that many more local eyes. How inexpensive? We should get a board basketball game together from the guys here ! Have a draft here to select teams . That would be fun to play in ! Even more fun to watch.I saw it last year on Rutgers Ticket site I believe.....mind you it's not a huge amount of money. I remember being surprised at how inexpensive it was.
For real. There have been like four home games against horrible teams. Have some patience. lolIt’s only been 3 or 4 home games, they’ll have other halftime shows as the season goes on
