Harbaugh stiffs BTN

JH may do very well at UM, as nearly everyone expects, but...

Michigan is the first place he's been with the problem of recruiting in a dying state. Detroit at one time was a recruiting hotbed. Not so any more. Michigan's population has steadily been moving to Arizona for 30 years. Yeah, Michigan can recruit nationally. But it's not the easy recruiting that Bo had in his day.

As I say - he is a great coach, and he may have great success at UM. But it's no slam dunk.

Not true... there's lots of mis-information floating around about Michigan being a 'dying' state.

It is true that the population of Michigan fell for seven straight years from 2005 to 2011, but... that trend has reversed and the population has been growing steadily the previous three years and should continue to grow.

Sure, the population of Michigan is not growing as fast as the Southwest part of the nation... but it IS growing. In fact, the current population of Michigan is greater than it ever was during Bo Schembechler's tenure as Michigan coach (1969 to 1989).

There are lots of recruits in Michigan (more than when Schembechler was coach). The problem is keeping them in-state. Many modern youths tend to suffer from 'the grass is greener on the other side of the fence' attitude, and decide to go to school out-of-state (something Rutgers fans probably are all too familiar with concerning the New Jersey talent leaving the state). Check out the following link detailing the 2016 state of Michigan football recruits and you will see many of the top dozen kids being poached by schools such as USC, Penn State, Ohio State, Alabama, Louisville, West Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

The recruits are available in Michigan... it's just a matter of keeping them home.

The ignorant and erroneous reports of Michigan being a 'dying' state are laughable, and frankly pretty insulting. The bad news is that the states most likely to die are the coastal states which will probably be swallowed-up by rising sea levels over the next few hundred years.

Good...now write another volume defending the honor of DetRIOT...or Xanadu as I'm sure it is referred to in the heavenly state you just described!
