No problem, all the news and stuff I post here is fun for me. CFB is the only sport I follow and it’s good for everyone to know what’s going on outside the RU bubble. I have a PhD in copy/paste lol.

Why is he not sought after for other coaching positions?

Wonder if DJ Durkin will get another shot after his debacle at Maryland.
Guess that Bo Pelini is too toxic too?
He’s older and doesn’t carry the same buzz as Belichick or Deion I’d guess but Cignetti is older too. 🤷‍♂️

If they extended him for 4 and it goes out to 2028 that means just like Marshall (they let Huff's contract run out) they let the contract run down and didn't extend beforehand. Freeman's contract also ran down to 2 years before a recent 4 year extension back 6. I hope we see this trend continue. I never believed a certain number of years needed to be on a coach's contract and with portal now I believe it even less.

That’s what I’ve been thinking might happen and this era of crazy deals that are also crazy long will finally come to an end. We’ll see. At least with bad player contracts hopefully you’d get out from under it in a year or 2 but coaching contracts can be an albatross around your neck the way they’ve been going.

Greg's former ST coach on his way to UNLV after the HC at Temple got canned:

From the UNLV site
>Before going to Temple, Scheier coached two seasons at Rutgers (2020-21) as the special teams coordinator. Under his guidance, the Scarlet Knights ranked seventh in the nation in the ESPN Special Teams Efficiency Ratings during his first season in 2020 and improved to No. 4 in 2021.

In 2021, Scheier's Scarlet Knight units finished among the top 25 nationally in several categories while setting the NCAA single-season record in net punting average with 45.82 yards per attempt. Rutgers also ranked 12th in the country in yards allowed per return (2.93), 25th in punt return average (10.95) and 17th in kickoff return yard defense (17.58) to go along with a blocked punt and a punt return touchdown. Second Team All-American punter Adam Korsak was named a finalist for the Ray Guy Award, while he and long snapper Billy Taylor both earned First Team All-Big Ten honors.

In 2020, the Rutgers kick return units scored three touchdowns (two kickoff, one punt) to finish as one of four teams nationally to reach the mark and one of 10 teams in the country with both a kickoff and a punt return score. Additionally, the Scarlet Knights led the Big Ten with 25.73 yards per kickoff return, which ranked 16th in the nation. <

Thought he did a good job and did not think the decision to let him go was a good one. But nobody listened to me mumbling to myself about it. 😂

KC Keeler will be interesting to watch as HC at Temple great record at FCS level. He had a bad ending at Delaware (got fired) but did well at Sam Houston. However, the AAC may well be the stud G5 conference with some strong teams.
Record at Delaware for last 2 years that go him fired- this record would get him a Trophy at Temple (or Rutgers for that matter):

2011Delaware7–45–3T–5th1720
2012Delaware5–62–68th
Delaware:86–5249–41

Not everyone is Saban and you’ll get down years here and there but what’s the overall picture.

I think he’s a solid choice for Temple and we’ll see how he does. The offensive numbers in the article for the Montana St coaches sounded good. See if they can carry forward when they step up a level.

Speaking of Saban, how hot will DeBoer(sp?)'s seat be if Bama does not make CFP next year?

I don’t think hot at all considering he got the typical crazy deal. He got an 8yr deal paying him approx 11M/yr. He just finished year 1.

I think schools playing players will lead to longer coaching tenures on average until you’re deeper into these nonsense deals and it’s more financially feasible to let a coach go.

With the added costs of paying players there might be some more fiscal sanity with regard to coaching contracts but I won’t hold my breath. You don’t see these stupid deals at the G5 or FCS level because they can’t afford to be so dumb. They don’t have the money. Some P4 schools might not be able to afford to be so dumb in the future either because of the added costs of paying players.

From Football Scoop >New York Jets: The Jets have requested to interview Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi for the head coaching job, per multiple reports.

According to the scoop Darren also is being interviewed by the Saints .> The Saints have requested interviews with Aaron Glenn (Lions OC), Kellen Moore (Eagles OC), Joe Brady (Bills OC), Anthony Weaver (Dolphins SC), Darren Rizzi (Saints interim HC), Mike Kafka (Giants QBs), and Mike Vrabel (former Titans HC).<

Missed this hire and forgot Babers was at Arizona, not anymore though.

Arizona fired offensive coordinator Dino Babers after a 4-8 season, during which the team dropped to 115th nationally in scoring offense.

Doege helped Marshall to 10 wins and a Sun Belt Conference championship this year. Marshall coach Charles Huff left Sunday for the same role at Southern Miss.

Before Marshall, Doege coached tight ends at Purdue under coordinator Graham Harrell in 2023. He has also spent time at Ole Miss, USC and Bowling Green.

Interesting list, but Vrabel is the only real choice.
