Has everyone lost their damn minds?

We lost the 2 guys everyone knew we were going to lose and are still a top 35 class right now. Good chance we finish on a high note, too, so let's not get crazy here.
We have 18 recruits & need 10-12 more with attrition & early enrollees. Who are we getting?

I think 99% of fans at this point admit Flood was god awful.

That does not mean that awful offensive and ST coaching has exacerbated the problem.

I do understand quite well. I don't think you know how excuse making works. If you and others want to accept that it's fine that Ash recruited two rb's that were gonna decommitt anyhow and have no backup plan but that's ok than so be it. I expect more form a head coach.

You don't follow recruiting closely if you don't think we have a backup plan.

Fans need to stop the comparison between Flood and Ash because both coaches have blame for this season. The talent is lacking and so is player development. How Rutgers gets out of this mess is unknown right now.

Listen you fool. The point is Ash is losing the class. Nuts implied it's not a big deal because everybody knew those 2 were gonna decommit. Guess what, it is a big deal. There were other guys that committed elsewhere when these two held their spots. Ash has not delivered and they bolted. Now we will settle for what's left.

I get it clearly. You want to feel better about Rutgers football by making excuses for Ash and company so be it. The fact is they lost their RB recruits and will have to settle if time.

It's my sincere hope that Ash gets a top 20 recruiting class so the talent argument goes away and we can find out if he is a real coach

Let's face it, many here wanted a change in the offense. We got the change, but didn't have the QB to run it. Either we should have modified the offense to suit the QBs we had or it was going to be a bad year.
Didn't have the qb, didn't modify and we were bad. Or maybe we were just bad anyhow.

Ash is losing the class? :joy:

Why do I waste time with you tards.

Wait...2 decommits is "losing the class"? LOL, no, it's not.

almost as funny as everybody knew they were gonna decommit so it's ok!!

Everyone DID know. Where have you been? Taylor and his family were begging, and waiting, for the Wisconsin offer for years. Lovett is pussy-whipped and wants to be with his gf at Penn State. So, yes, the "word was out," so-to-speak, for months.

How do you know they have no backup plan? Do you expect them to come out and say what their plans are?

Exactly. And what are Ash's plans under the circumstances. Other than going to Lovetts house and beg him.

You've gotta be joking, right? You DO realize we're recruiting other RB's, right? SMH
There are always RB's to recruit. It's just that all of the good ones are committed or not considering Rutgers. But no big deal, Ash will flip them from James Madison and coach them up nice.

Flood used a similar strategy when guys decommitted.

Let' s see. What makes more sense: Hiring a novice HC for $ 2MM a year and filling the stands with 25m for 4 years or spending $4MM for a good HC and filling home games with 50m for competitive games. You get what you pay for.

Next person to make a post talking about how "if Kyle flood was still HC we wouldn't be where we are today" is going to be asked to get their memory checked.

If Urban, Nick and Jim put aside their differences and came to Piscataway to tag team the RU job... we would still be around 2-10 ish. Maybe a win or two more but absolutely no significant difference (yes, I know, ignore the recruiting aspect for the purposes of this hypothetical)

Listen folks. I'm not here to praise Chris Ash or throw him under the bus. All I can say is that college football is a complicated beast. The sheer number of positions and players makes it far more difficult than basketball to turn a team around. If you're calling for Ash's head right now I'm assuming you've never been a part of a start up or large scale business initiative. These things take time. No CEO has ever barged into a failing company and turned things around in a year.

There is/was no football coach worse than Flood.

When was the last time we had a decent commit, September? I mean a guy that our competition wanted not some guy who"a only other offer was Wake Forest

They'll be other decommits. Mark it down. And I'm not rooting for it. You don't need to be Nostradamas to see what's coming

Why don't you do the research for yourself?
Nuts you know better than that. I know exactly who he is recruiting at RB. That's why I challenged his abilities and your claim. At least defend the skills of the kids he's recruiting instead of calling me a floodie. Frankly I thought you were better than that pussy shit. Guess I was wrong. Name calling is all that matters I guess.

I won't mark down any commit as a future decommit .
Just like I won't claim they all will sign their LOIs.
I'll just say : at the moment Ash looks like he's bringing in a good class of 2017
and I don't see that changing, but know it can because these are teenagers we're talking about.
On the other hand , won't say a top recruit won't flip to Rutgers from the program he committed to. Just say I think that's highly unlikely to happen.

Blaming the talent is like a guitarist blaming the Instrument. Hand Eddie Van Halen a $99 guitar from Sears and I'll bet he still can make some pretty damn good music.

Losers complain about the circumstances, winners make the best of what they have

No. Do you understand what you type? Blaming the talent is like blaming the guitarist, NOT THE GUITAR. The talent is everything, not the instrument.

In order to develop players you need players with talent. As shown week over week we have very few play makers. It will be interesting to see how many players stick it out after this season. As bad as this season was, it will be the giant flush of the toilet that gets rid of the players that don't have the heart to be here

Okay genius.
You tell us all why those 2 RBs decomitted.

Nuts gave the generally accepted reason earlier in the thread. If you cant keep up keep your mouth shut. I guess reading compression is not your strong suit. Bottom line is they prefer to be elsewhere - for whatever reason.

True, but take two strings off the guitar and what does it sound like?

Does anyone really think our offense could lose Carroo and Grant and remain competitive in the B1G? Our defense last year was ranked in the 100s. Toss in a new scheme, QB woes, no kicker, inconsistent punter and what did you think was going to happen. Did I mention the offensive line?

Maybe some scores would have been closer if the O stayed on the field longer and gave the D some hope...so what.

But take heart, there is no where to go but up from here.

I know why they left.
But you keep harping on that they left because of our team's performance. (Apparently not true)

On top of that, you said the coaches were not prepared to replace them with comparable players.
Have they picked up anyone else yet?
No, so wait and see what happens.

You make it sound like recruits are leaving left and right, when in fact, the only 2 were very shaky recruits in terms of their commitment from day 1.
