Has there been any insight how Harper went from OUT to IN overnight?

Early in the game I thought we were gonna get Michigan St. Harper and he was out there based on his toughness even though he wasn't going to have his normal burst. But man that take he had on the baseline sure seems to fire him up and give him the confidence to keep getting downhill.

I can relate. I broke/sprained both my ankles playing ball in high school and couldn't play my last two years. I missed years he missed games. Pretty remarkable.

I have a couple of injuries that are a decade and multiple decades old that still flare up from time to time with no real trigger. In one of them, the swelling presses on a nerve and I’m basically on one foot until it goes down.

But him being unavailable for a long period of time was based only on speculation.
True but when you saw the injury, then the MSU and UM games, then he goes into the boot it did make some sense.. I mean he was just in a boot right?
Reminds me of the EO dislocated knee cap recovery. I'm 66. Give some of that stuff.

I gotta say, I thought he would be out for Illinois. Pike was lamenting his high ankle sprain in the Michigan post game press conference. I thought best case scenario is he'd back for the last 4 regular season games. That was Schiano-esque gamesmanship as I have to believe Illinois game planned to drape Ace and not worry about the point guard.

Dylan's burst and conditioning are still not where they need to be. But man, he's pretty darn good at 80%.

Fact of the matter is almost everything posted here is pure speculation with little real info And by the way those who really know something generally should keep keep their mouths shut.
But isn't that true of all threads? If people didn't speculate there'd be virtually no threads and each thread would only have a few posts by professionals in the field. I don't think we have many doctors or coaches on here, so at that point, might as well just shut the whole thing down.

I’m sure that ankle is swollen like a balloon again this morning and he’ll need every hour between now and the MD game just to get back to a place where he can hope to play again. And the rest of the season likely will be something like that.
Hopefully not, with proper preventative treatment from the training staff.

You're basically agreeing with me. And I'm not saying shut down anything -- I'm saying don't believe what you read here or what the pseudo experts say.

The fact that he even attempted to play against MSU shows that the injury was not that severe. As for the boot, it is not like he was in a cast up to his hip.

I've always took this as entertainment with people stating their opinions, not as a meeting of Mensa on World topics that directly impact others.

people with broken ankles don't have a cast up to the hip .. ok, so you were the one fan not shocked to see him play and play so well. Let me know tomorrow's numbers when you get a chance . TIA. 😀

I was surprised how well and long he played last night, just that I do not think it was a Lazarus like feat.

This return and level of play sure makes the beat writer Fonseca's histrionics all the more revealing that he is simply speculating with very little actual knowledge on a whole host of things said.

Yeah that would be me. August 4, 1993 at the relatively new Busch gym - went up for a rebound, came down on a guy's foot, broke my ankle, and a few hours later I wanted to cry as the doctor kept on wrapping the cast all the way up my left leg. Stayed there for 1.5 months. 🥲

Cook gym, February 1976 - same scenario except only a cast to the knee.

I’ve had many sprained ankles in my younger days, some of them pretty bad. They can go from no chance of playing to almost 100% in a couple of days,..even the severe ones that have lingered.

Unfortunately, the cumulative affect is that I can now easily sprain my ankle just walking on the beach….but he’s many sprains and many years away from that.

He’s probably still pretty banged up, he saved a ball on the sideline across from the RU bench yesterday near the end of 1st half and definitely came up a bit hobbled.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s in a boot taking an off day today.

I see this mostly in the NFL, but it’s not uncommon for a player that’s out with a foot or ankle injury to watch the game in a boot regardless of the severity. Basically taking every precaution to limit the chance of a set back.
