Hawaii part 2

So we decided to stay in Waikiki its our first time there. Any recommendations as far as food/bar??? By the way we have a car for 7 days.

Stop by the Moana Surfrider for the outdoor bar over looking the water. Great spot for dinner too,

My son age 24 moved there 4 years ago. My daughter age 25 moved there January 2014. I go there every few months to vacation and check up on the kids. There are great beaches on the North Shore: Waimea Bay, Banzai Pipeline and Sunset. The windward side has Waimanalo, Lanikai and many others. The Marriott Waikiki has a great bar with live music and a beautiful view of the beach. There are great bars and restaurants all along Kalakaua, most of them are on the side across from the beach. Kuhio Ave is good also and a little cheaper. There are many smaller restaurants on the side streets between Kalakaua and Kuhio also. Check out the Volcano Lounge (formerly the Genius lounge) and ask for James (my son). He'll take care of you. Stay away from the tourist Luau's (Paradise Grove and others). They are not authentic and the food is not great. Have fun!

Lots of great places in Waikiki to eat and drink, here's a couple of personal favorites.
LuLu's, great casual place for beers and burgers.
The MaiTai Bar at the Royal Hawaiian. Right on the beach awesome views.
And the best of the best, House without a Key at the Halekulani. A Must for afternoon cocktails and hula performed by former Miss Hawaii winners.

Make sure you make it down to the various "old" hotels right on the beach for breakfast!! Spectacular settings and with the waiters dressed in their pale pink jackets you'll think you are in a 40's movie. Loved it.

Sunset dinner at the Hau Tree Lanai in the Kaimana Hotel in Waikiki is great. You're on a patio right on the beach. I'm sure you'd enjoy it.
