Here we go again...

No. if someone did that, I missed it... can you please tell me where you saw that?
Its in the game thread. Look I dont want to get anyone in trouble or be board police. To me I dont care if someone calls me a name or I dont think Rock cares either. What I do care about is the constant attacks on people who aren't regulars here. Its not like this is an all out bash. Its people critiquing why the games are lost. I dont see anything over the top with this so called negativity..its discussion about the game and why we lost. Its not about having coffee and cookies and ice cream and I am sure Coach Stringer would say the same

I watched the game and was disappointed in what I saw end game. But for this very reason I won't even bother to make a comment.

thanks, bac, I've addressed it.

Considering the types of battles and general nastiness I see on the football board (and the number of threads that get deleted over there), I do find it amusing how veterans of that board get scared away so easily on this board when someone calls them out, rightly or wrongly. :-) We have a bunch of die-hard fans here who are just supporting their team. Some of these fans have invested a lot of time and $$ in support of this team, through thick and thin, so I think it's understandable that they're a bit sensitive when someone shows up on the board only after a tough loss. That said,
I agree that name-calling is inappropriate, and I'll address that when I see it.

For all: There's a report button at the bottom of each post that can be used to alert the admin team of inappropriate language, etc.

I think the point is (the difference) that the nastiness you (correctly) point out is due to content and not just because you are an infrequent poster. Although there are plenty who jump on things like post count or just have these long established feuds with each other. It certainly has become tough forum at times.

(IMHO) It is a smaller core group here who do seem to be ultra sensitive to "outsiders".... but I am sure plenty of "jerks" who drive by as well stoking the spirits. Debate the content and not the poster is my rule (which I TRY to follow)..

Anywho, I'll give you a well deserved "like" for your work and comments.

Name calling should not be tolerated in the least and those who engage in that habit be disciplined after a warning, whether it's from a so called negative poster or a so called positive poster when pointing out the type of poster the other seems to be.
I don't think anyone wants to censor the rights of others to express their opinion, be it negative or positive if done in a respectful manner
But we all should have the right to point out if a poster mainly comes on this board only after a win or loss.

Excuses can be made for those who occasionally post , but there isn't a reason in the world to accept an excuse from someone that posts multiple times after a win or loss and then claims something keeps them away when RU wins or loses according to their posting MO.
Not saying no one shouldn't be allowed to do that, just they should understand that they will be called out for doing it and others have the right to express that type of opinion.

It does get a bit old seeing the same posters jump on the RU WBB program after a loss and go in hiding after the wins start coming.
Just like it would be a shame to let those who only post after a win have their MO not called out.
Fair is fair and if you want to post a certain way , it's only fair for those reading those posts to point that out.

I have not fnished watching the game as I DVR'd it. I am late in the 3rd quarter and they have looked good so far except for some missed layups and leaving a few pony tailed blondes open for 3's. I am sure I will get to the part where they stop scoring which is my concern about this team. They do not have a consistent offense to score and opponents play a zone because they know we are not good shooters, especially in crunch time. I picked us 18-11 before the season started so they are better than I had envisioned. I think we are a cut below the good ones in the Big Ten like Maryland, Iowa, etc., and hopefully beat the lesser teams that we are supposed to beat.

Just want to comment on two statements in your post.

"we are not good shooters" - Current NCAA stats show Rutgers FG percentage at 46.0% making us #20 in Division 1.

"leaving a few pony tailed blondes open for 3's" - Our opposition's FG pct overall is 34.9% ranking us #32 - not that shabby. Admittedly the opponents 3pt FG Pct is a little high at 31.8% but we are shooting better than that from 3 (34.9%). Kastanek from Iowa had a great night going 5-10. Sometimes that happens.

The missed layups really bother me as well. I just can't see a foul differential of 20-5 and 23 free throws to 4. Something tells me that Iowa doesn't play defense well enough to create that big a difference.

Some posters get down on the team after a loss but many of us are here to support this program after every game.

I support the team and am a long time season ticket holder. I also tell it like I see it. Just finished watching the whole game. We missed so many easy layups that gave Iowa the game. Sad but true. Poor Parker had no business taking all of those 3s. She missed everything she attempted. That was a game made for the taking and we gave it away. Fact.

Win or lose, I will be on these boards, just like I've been on these boards since the inception of Rutgers Rivals going back over 16 years. And it's funny to me, that when I come on these boards after a win and praise the team, that never gets mentioned. Why do I think that? Because we're all elated together and good news always gets lost in the shuffle as compared to bad news or in this case bad play and bad coaching. I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to come on here after a loss and say, "Wow, we played really well tonight and lost because the other team was just that much better." Unfortunately, what I witnessed last night was the same ol' same ol'. One could argue that Iowa has better talent than we do. I disagree. We are just as talented and IMO we are more athletic than they are. Their coach, their kids, their plays get their playmakters in a position to score and succeed. We rarely do that. If we lost last night after a hard fought battle of good quality play, I would have been the first one here to congratulate the team. In my view last night's loss should have been a win regardless of the foul discrepancy, which we deserved btw.

As to supporting the women's program, you bet I do! I give a lot of money EVERY YEAR to Rutgers athletics which supports the revenue sports and the non revenue sports. And I will continue to support my alma mater in all thing academics and athletics, because I'm passionate about Rutgers. And whether I'm rooting for women's BB, men's BB, football, soccer, wrestling, etc., I come to these boards to share and debate. I'm not here to hold one's hand or sugarcoat bad play or bad coaching, whether here or on the other boards. That's what these boards are for--to engage with other fans/alums passionate about Rutgers. So criticism is par for the course as are accolades when deserved. Last night's loss was deserving of criticism. I'm sorry I wasn't able to watch the win against Minnesota. I'm sure I would have come on these boards and loudly "supported" our women like I usually do.

Hope people understand ( speaking for myself) there should be no problem with someone coming on any of RU's sports boards criticizing the team after a loss.
Those that do and also post after victories are not the ones I get upset about .
I also hope those who I feel express their opinions no matter what don't think my jabs are aimed at them.
I don't like to mention anyone in my messages about how a poster's MO is but when someone is
Win or lose on these boards, there's no way I mean them and apologize if I in any way implied
they are who I mean when I say this :
>I get upset with the posters that just come after a loss and stay away when RU wins.<
Though I might not say anything about those who criticize after a loss and congratulate
after a win, I appreciate their input on both.

I just try to point out I don't think it's right to only come on this board to bash after a loss and stay away when RU is winning.
Just like it isn't right to jump up and down celebrating victories and posting right after them, but ignoring the losses and hiding in the background after one without expressing an opinion.
I think both MOs are wrong and hurt meaningful discussion because there seems to be no middle ground to discuss RU faults or strengths with someone dead set on talking about only wins or losses.

agree 100%. I have this team going 20-11/10-8 in the Big 10 which probably puts us somewhere 5th to 7th and has us close to the NCAA bubble but probably in.The talent is there for much better.

"RU MAN, " In my view last night's loss should have been a win regardless of the foul discrepancy, which we deserved btw."

I strongly disagree that the foul discrepancy wasn't a major factor in the outcome of this game and that it was deserved. Yes we did commit some fouls and yes more than Iowa, but I can't remember ever seeing a team go a whole game committing only 3 defensive fouls (or was it 2? I know for sure that Parker took two charges) - not even UConn, who is the gold standard in WBB. I'm curious. Has any one else seen such a game?

That being said, I agree that we still had a great opportunity to win that game despite the foul disparity. Our team was much more athletic. But we struggle mightily against zone defenses.

Every one of our opponents play zone against us. You would think after 14 game we would figure out offensive strategy to beat a zone.
I didn't watch the game, but it sounds like we missed a lot of layups during the game. Which are, last I checked, the highest percentage shot on the court. So it sounds more like we got some decent shots against the zone and just missed them. Our offense has been, in the games I've seen, pretty good at generating good looks against zones this year. Just need to make the easy shots (and some of the hard ones, too). Though this team is actually pretty good at shooting the 3.

Nice post, as always Jesse. Since I rarely see games, I'm inclined to agree with those who said we didn't look particularly good against the zone in this game. That said, a few more made layups, maybe a different play on a couple of misguided 3 attempts, and who knows? It isn't like we were blown out.

Just sayin . . .

For those of you who only stop by after losses... yes, you're absolutely entitled to post your opinions here. But if other posters question you for doing so, please remember that they are also entitled to their opinions.

Thank you.
i've been one guilty of ''losing anger'' but have restrained myself from getting caught up in being negative...I do believe though all our opinions count for something...I miss the ''Sticks and Wicks'' days though....i hope the buzz returns...it was fun..
