Saw the RAC for the first time yesterday. Holy moly.....made worse because it's surrounded by some nice buildings.

I want RU to get Kevin Boyle. Do not want any of the Hurleys

I live in Phoenix so naturally thought this would be about Bobby Hurley. Something I can never figure out...maybe someone can explain. At times they look like they have the makings of a team and the effort is pretty good, but they don't give themselves a chance to win because they are so careless with the ball and take wild shots in traffic. Last night they could have easily been ahead by ten if not for this. Can't decide if it's the players or coach at fault.

Tom Cluess from Iona is the man. Supposedly wanted to look around a year ago but Iona wouldn't release from buyout. Won at LIU before Iona and has 5 consecutive 20 win seasons at Iona including back to back 25 win seasons. Only coach that could really slow down Monmouth this year lol

Why is everybody naming coaches from mid-majors? Why not get someone with power conference experience?

Somehow, I get the feeling with Hobbs that coaches with big conference experience may be important to him.

Hurley will be a leading candidate, some of you get over your hate
Of course Danny will be one of the leading candidates: a well known name in NJ HS coaching circles, his father will be supportive of Rutgers MBB and talk of the program, m,any RU fans are infatuated with him making him a popular choice and a fairly good HC record at Wagner and RI.
Personally the love some have for Danny is a bit much as far as I'm concerned.
He had proven to be a fairly good HC, but hasn't shown to be much better than that running a mid major program.

But: even though there might be a few Hurley haters, I believe most against him being hired is because they question if he is qualified to build a program that has as many obstacles to overcome as Rutgers does.
Hurley took over a program that had one bad year after some pretty good ones and really didn't improve that program like some think he did. But that's my opinion and sure there are some that feel Danny's the best HC RU could hire since Gary Waters.

Why would anyone leave a P5 team to come here?
History..sucks
Facilities...suck
Cosy of living....sucks
The next coach needs to be sold on a vision, new facilities in the future, and a renewed commitment. Something most P5 schools already have.

What scares me is Hobbs reaching out to a HS HC without any college coaching experience .
I really don't know if he would be able to make the jump to the college level at a program like RU and be successful in making it a respectable program without one bit of college coaching experience.

This. His name is Tim, but ur point is correct. I know the guy, have a lot of friends that are Iona alums and my cousin played for him at CW Post in Long Island. He is a smart offensive minded basketball guy. Gets talent to Iona and runs a high powered offense. I think Hobbs will do his homework and I expect cluess to be a candidate.

I'm not going to make the assumption that Hobbs reached out to Boyle, for the HC position, based on what one guy is telling us he got from a source.

No train wreck at all. One bad year after averaging nearly 23 wins a year for four years. Still hasnt been as good.

SAY WHAT??? We're talking DANNY Hurley, right? Not even close:

13+25+8+14+23 = 16.6 wins/year prior to this season. Could have just looked it up yourself instead of throwing something against the wall G!:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Well look at the opposite we took a PRO coach and he was a total failure. can it be worse then what we have in EJ.

Huh? The comment was that Danny Hurley inherited a train wreck and has done a wonderful coaching job at Rhode Island. I said there was no train wreck. The prior coach had one bad year. The four prior years the prior coach had records of 21-12, 23-11, 26-10 and 20-14. Danny Hurley did not inherit a train wreck. Nor has he approached his predecessor's success.

Apology accepted.
