Eight of them four-stars....and only one isn't from Florida.
That's pretty impressive.

Golden can recruit. But I also think that he demonstrates the broadest disparity between the quality of his recruiting classes and his team's performance on the field.

for the reason mentioned by RU4Real, expectations are high or he is gone, I don't see him coming back next year and that will push most of these kids somewhere else by signing day. Also Florida has former cane head coach, Randy Shannon on their new staff and he will grab a few of those south FL kids, he is wayyyyy better connected in a few of the powerhouse high schools in dade and broward counties

I wonder if some people here would worship this guy at Rutgers if he brought in these type of classes but had the same results as Flood?

It's a combination of James coley the offensive coordinator and jorge baez in the recruiting office.

It's not golden.

I'm no fan of golden but he can recruit. Not saying there aren't other influences but he's a stellar salesman.

When UM fires him this year, RU should hire him as a recruiting coordinator.

Yeah...right.
Because recruiting kids to Rutgers is the same as selling The U to kids from Florida.
[eyeroll][eyeroll][eyeroll][eyeroll][eyeroll]

didn't he come from Temple, and get top players to play at freaking Temple? He would get us top 25 and maybe top 10 classes every year.

The only thing he can't do is coach.

Temple was a harder sell than Rutgers is. Plus Golden is from New Jersey, went to Penn State, and coached at Temple and Miami. He's very familiar with the State of Rutgers. Not sure he'd want to come here as a recruiter after being head coach at Miami though.

He is a dead man walking down there and wants out. Either they fire him or he does well enough that he can find another job.

Just for the record, Temple was 28-45 under Golden and his recruiting classes were ranked by Rivals:
2006-#80
2007-#90
2008-#82
2009-#113
2010-#75
I think maybe even Mario Verduzco could have done that well at recruiting.

That's the same way that Mack Brown recruited at Texas for years. Recruit highest ranked sophs and juniors in Texas and get a monster class on paper. Then, under-develop them and coach them poorly during games. Strong got rid of a bunch of players when he started, saying they lacked heart and there were many booze/pot issues. There was a quote from the NFL Combine this year by a top scout saying how in the world did Miami go 6-7 with that much talent.

Temple was in the MAC during that time and they did have talent as they put players into the NFL.

They still sucked however due to coaching.

Recruiting doesn't matter if you can't coach. Look at Texas, Michigan, Miami and Florida as prime examples of schools loaded with talent and terrible win loss records.

Only Golden still has a job, the rest were all fired.

The classes were also ranked #1 in the MAC three years in a row (Rhule was his recruiting coordinator). It's all how you present the data lol.

So who wouldn't take 8 four stars right now on the Rutgers commit list, and then worry we might replace them later with 5 star elite prospects? Gosh, we might even be so bold as to call that group, "Flood's 2016 Dream Team"!

But what's your point? Are you implying a school such as Temple is expected to have higher ranked recruiting classes? Lets be realistic.

#1 in the MAC.....is that like being the tallest midget ?

Couldn't PSU say that about us when we were bragging we had top classes in the Big East? It's all relative dude. Same with how well PJ Fleck is recruiting at WMU.

Golden can recruit with the best of them....what he does with them...its time for him to put up or shut up and he will be shown the door in the process

And, face it, he can recruit anywhere. He lived mostly of NJ and NE recruits as an assistant at UVa and Temple...and now gets players mostly from Florida

if you can recruit, you can recruit anywhere

So you don't think Mario Verduzco could duplicate those 5-year recruiting rankings of Golden at Temple ?
I don't really see how someone could do much worse.

Golden had like 15 decommits last year. He's assuming that 15 will decommit this year and is probably aiming to get 40 commits. Eventually 15 will decommit or will have their ships pulled and he'll be at 25.

That guy could have the Patriots and still lose. He is a horrible coach.

And some posters are ticked when God forbid a 5th year senior bolts....

also his clothes don't fit, they always look 2 sizes too big for him. Anyone else noticed that?

I have. I notice that about Eddie Jordan too though. It is a decidedly 90's look. You don't have to be Pitino on the sidelines, but you are a guy making a million dollars a year representing something far bigger than yourself.

Get a tailor and some hand made suits.

They both look great compared to what Pelini used to wear at public functions. The only way he could have gotten his suits is if he went dumpster diving at Dollar General.

Golden is a northeast guy. He has had a very tough time breaking in down there as he comes off as arrogant and an outsider to many. Plus he had to deal with the sanctions. However those kids down there need the discipline.

At BC, Penn St, even Rutgers he would do better in those homes than in Miami.

He hired coley , a half cuban, half Irish guy who started in the high schools in Miami and rose to recruiting coordinator- oc at Florida state. He was an incredible fit there and the best recruiter on that staff. Fyi- this guy started recruiting matias in December of his senior year and pulled him from us.

Baez was at ole miss a few years back and helped pull over 10 kids from
Florida in a class. He has incredible in roads in south Florida.

Kids want guys they can relate to and trust.

Shannon is not a threat.
