How about that national anthem?

Did anyone think this was someone other than Kyk when it happened or when the thread was posted?
Haha no. Its no secret i yell “go rutgers” during every anthem im at. Just as with the entire arena i yell “go rangers” or “fvck _____ (insert jerkoff players name from prior game that everyone has on their mind)” at every rangers game.

Anyway, busy day ahead. Was fun chatting with you guys between sets at the gym.

Have a work event in denver on wednesday and figuring out whether or not to schedule a long layover in indy and go to the RU/IU game tomorrow or just ski at breck as i was planning. If im at the game youll know as youll hear me during the anthem. Have a day ladies and gents

Who caress what other people yell and scream, you’re responsible for yourself.
Just because OTHER idiots yell F whomever or whatever doesn’t mean you should.
Control yourself, if you must yell during the quiet portions of the anthem, yell something G rated and supportive of RU.
If you can’t or you must do what other idiots do…so be it, that’s on you!
You’re being called out for screaming obscenities, it pretty weak your excuse is “Ranger fans do it”
Are you some kind of 🐑?
As for your interactions with the kid and fans, I wasn’t there so I can’t pass judgment

There are two topics here.

1. Yelling during the National Anthem
I fully disagree with kyk here. Scream all you want at its conclusion but not during it.

2. RU fans sticking together at games.
I wasn’t there but based on kyk’s summary a few RU fans were siding with a Mish St fan without knowing what was going on.
Golden fan rule is to always back your fellow fans unless you are 💯 sure you saw and heard everything that led up to the altercation, verbal or physical.

Kyk said he was with his GF and the Mish St fan was sexually harassing her

Why the heck would RU fans be defending that Mish St fan?

I woulda had kyk’s back

RU fans love to

1. Not stand during important parts of the game

2. Defend other teams scum fans

The point isn't to make other teams fans think "wow that was an amazing experience I can't wait to go next year to the rac again". If our fans have done their job, they should say "I will literally never go again. That was such a hostile environment". And boom! One more ticket for an actual Rutgers fan the next time around.

Also, if you don't stand, give up your front row tickets and go to the nosebleeds where you belong.

Not negative intent but NY Red Bulls games everyone yells "Red" during the anthem along with the singer.

Obviously different situation than mocking another team during quite parts.

Lol-
I welcome every opposing fan I see at football tailgates, tell them I hope you go home disappointed but have a great experience.
We aren’t UCONN, nor do i want to EVER make visiting fans uncomfortable.
Everyone knows and encourages the moments when standing is appropriate and expected…we all do.
But I do respect the sight lines of diehard older or compromised fans who’ve been supporting RU for 50 years

Rangers fans used to be like that in the 90s in MSG but the arena is now gentrified and Dolan priced out many of the blue collar fans that liked to drink heavily and harass opposing
fans

Dude, you need help. There's a reason you were the ONLY one doing it in a crowd of 14,000 plus.

Yelling Larry Nassar during the National Anthem is a bit cringey. That dude was a disgusting human being. I don’t know KYK, comparing this to yelling out during a Rangers game seems a little bit inappropriate.
Although I don’t condone that MSU fan coming at you or making those disgusting gestures or comments either. Probably would have been best to get the security guy involved

They do haha. Whens the last time you were at a rangers game? Ill buy you a solo ticket to go tn if you promise to Video the anthem
Was at a game this year and went to last game they won against “tamper” in the playoffs last year. Hahah.

What do we think Kyk will do to complete his “unhinged and aberrant hat trick?”

His “negative rating” with liberals, conservatives and moderates is about as bad as George Santos at this point.

Like George, he is sticking to his guns. Men of principle, I guess.

Santos is chopped liver compared to Joseph Biden

But you’re a little too fixated on kyk IMO.

The moment the anthem was over I said to my friends “If that guy was sitting near me, I would have told him to shut the f*ck up.”

I was personally offended by his yelling during the anthem. And it was so low class that I felt embarrassed as a fan.

No fixation. Just getting a point across. Obviously, he’d rather cite other low class behavior than take a step back and reassess.

I thought the same thing when he yelled “fck Seton Hall!” During the NA at The RAC a few years ago.

It was classless and ill -timed.

He’s gonna yell whatever he wants though, why worry about it? Right

well ive learned a couple things here
1) rutgers fans are a holy bunch
2) rutgers games arent rangers games and i should be quiet during the anthem

Haha i sincerely know nothing other than to be loud during the quiet parts of the anthem since I was 3 going to rangers games. Honestly, it feels weird to me and not natural when its quiet during those parts. Well anyway, apparently many here did not grow up in the same garden i did. I shall reserve that for hockey and tonight at 7:30 when im back at the garden to see the rangers kick off the second half and hopefully a cup run

These are my earliest memories of the anthem. John Amirante used to wave on the crowd to get loud during the anthem. Just engrained in the culture of that building

Not sure why you’re trying to argue this.

You were 1 out of 14,000 + people in attendance who shouted during the anthem. I’m sure hundreds (if not thousands) of these folks are Ranger fans also.

1 out of 14,000 is a whopping 0.007%.

I think you gotta own this L.

I grew up in Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium and Madison Square Garden.
I’ve never yelled an obscenity in my life for anyone else to hear in a stadium with kids in it.
In fairness it’s how my dad taught me,
I’m quite aware of the building crowd noise towards the end of the anthem that makes the place explode…it’s gradual and exhilarating, I’m all for that

Most rangers fans don’t scream shit out during the anthem either

They do like to say crap about NJ at msg when the Devils are in town

Nah youre wrong zap. At rangers game every quiet part is yelling. Of course its loudest at the end with the clapping.

Youre wrong. I’ll take a video tonight and post it here. And remember tonight is vs calary who no one cares about here

Not a big RU bball guy. Go to a couple games a year. Root them on of course. But the games I spend most my time at are rangers games. Ill hit about half of their home games this year along with the games at NJD as well as headed up to boston first weekend in march. Hockey is just different and thats what im used to. Youll be ok though

But anyway, @Proud NJ Sports Fan thanks for tagging me here haha back to work. And again, sorry if anyones feelings got hurt or damaged during the anthem or if I stood up after a big shot or defensive stop. Will be quiet if i come to any other RU games

You’re not a big RU Bball guy but you feel compelled to start a thread about Pike’s ceiling and that RU should raise the season ticket prices among 2 of the threads I’ve read you started or posted on. ☹️
Gotcha OK.

It’s about respect for the Anthem, the country, (and I suppose the singer.)

Yelling out during the anthem is low class.
Yelling out obscenities during the anthem is really low class.

During the anthem, take a moment to reflect on the positives of living in this country, the sacrifices of those who died defending it, those who are permanently injured, and all those who served.

It should be a point of pride that brings all Americans together for a moment, something that unites us all.

Even if one doesn’t feel strongly in this regard, give time to allow others who do to reflect on these things without interruption and disrespect (intended or not).

Once it is over, then focus on the game.

IMO

Back to the topic at hand, the girl was amazing, and for the rest of her life she will be able to tell people she sang at MSG in front of 15,000 fans (and one idiot).
She also did the home Rutgers vs Michigan St. wrestling match. Very well done. Oh and no one yelled during her singing it was dead quiet.
