Not sure if I like it or not. First time I saw it, I thought of MSG, not the garden state. Thoughts?

"walled garden" is more of a known reference......maybe they'll see this post and upgrade that fence to a wall

frankly, right now the coaches should promote it to the recruits, let something happen before the public PR campaign starts, let it come to us

Barb wire the garden would have been a little less granny like, but it's growing on me. Get it? Haha.

I would rather them stick with #JerseyStaysJersey

I disagree.....I think when your school doesn't have a geographic designation in its name, you take advantage of that.....and you act like a national program, even if the stated key goal is to keep NJ talent at home.

The State of Rutgers concept was one way to do that. Walled Garden is another......You can say Walled Garden and people could figure it out, without you saying New Jersey.

It sounds like it was made up by a mid-western cornball... but whatever works
Well you sound like an east coast cornball because the guy that came up with it is from Florida. Nice try at being a jerk though.

I think "Fence the garden" is a stretch at best. My first reaction was"is this supposed to be the same concept as "state of Rutgers", what exactly is the garden.. it just doesn't sound footballish to me. Who knows.

If being a professional critic is one of the lowest forms of jobs.....critiquing hashtag slogans I believe must be near the bottom of the critiquing totem pole.
I agree, someone actually started a thread discussing whether folks like a hashtag or not...only here, lol. Unfortunately, I responded to the stupidity so I guess I'm just as bad.

I like wall around the state better than fence the garden. I also like chopnation better than Family but like Family better than the garden thing. I say we keep chopnation and if the kids want to keep family we should. But watching a lot of bowl games it seems everyone is using Family so I can take it or leave it.

I have been in full support of Ash and will continue to do so but I'm not going to say it is better than Family or Chopnation. It just isn't.

#chopnation still one of my favorite RU hashtags. I hope we keep the chop thing .. Unique to RU , gives visible people something to do in front of a camera to identify with RU

Unique to RU?!? Search #chopnation in April.

It was Schiano's thing. Flood bastardized it. There is no reason the new coach should keep a slogan just because an old coach won 11 games ten years ago using it.

"Fence the Garden" does have a penitentiary vibe to it.

Maybe "fertilize the garden" . Make the best of the manure that's left over after the recruiting raids. Kidding kidding lol.

It's fine. It is a Twitter thing. The team isn't going to run out doing some fence the garden hand jives.

Thought I would be numb to it by this point, but I'm not. It doesn't fit and does sound like someone who read a 10 facts about Jersey brochure when trying to create a hashtag, and saw that Jersey is called the Garden State and came up with it.

But I even kinda cringe when I hear the full name "New Jersey" said or written. I much prefer Jersey when spoken, or NJ in writing. It's just how we talk and write here.

Clearly, I'm not allowed to have any opinion other than - it's friggin' awesome!!!!!!!

I've got no problem with it. -And fact is, no matter what sort of saying or motto the new staff came up with, somebody would have an issue with it. Nothing was gonna please everybody.

What about: #familygarden

Appreciation for the "green" in the state is something I wish more Jersey residents would have.

Almost every person I know who visited New Jersey for the first time is awe struck by the amount of "green" they see. The light bulb turns and they utter - "oh, that's why they call it the garden state".

Not a fan either of #fencethegarden per se - but I wouldn't call it amateur hour. Cause I totally see how someone who just came here for the first time would come up with that.

When you dig deep and think about it, you realize it's just a twitter hashtag that has grown men (?) wondering how they feel about it lmao

Sorry it sounds corny, if it came from Midwest or Florida guy. (Fla. can be bush league too, many parts are)
No worse then F.A.M.I.L.Y. But what every works, and as 95% can relate to "garden" as we all know Jersey is the Garden state.
It is not what they say it is what they do!
A peek is coming in Feb 2016 the real show comes in Feb 2017.
Actions do speak louder then words.
