I’ll take the win.

Why can’t Pike get the players ready for these games

It’s Christmas, not going to complain about the
10 thoughts going on in my head about how we run our offense and inbound the ball.
It’s a win!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously
Am I breaking a rule, I certainly have no interest in breaking a rule.
The premise of the post was supposed to be don’t complain about a win.
I thought that was appreciated here?
Not breaking any rule but if you actually wanted to initiate conversation the b-ball board is probably the better spot. I just assumed you lost track of what forum you were on.

come on over. the water is fine and the don't have as many gators and snakes.

Zappaa, you found the right board. I really don't know why some of the posters over there were upset with your post. I agree with you. I would love for us to have played this great game and won by thirty, we didn't't. But we won. Losing close but playing well only goes so far. Winning ugly trumps losing pretty any day in my book.

looks like Zap's good feeling message was moved to the right board.
The other one finds room to complain about everything.

Zap if you posted a complaint about the win, no one would have complained you posted about basketball on the football board
Especially if you bashed a politician ( left or right ) claiming they didn't help
( any reason will do ) :D

Mad, you are absolutely right. If Zap had complained that Pike, just like Ash, can't coach offense the post would have been lauded for it's insight.

Sorry to pick on you......I hate these type of posts. Idiotic.

1. Outside of the 1st 90 seconds of he game the defensive effort was there
2. He did yank the entire team 90 seconds in
3. He did sit some of our more talented offensive players in crunch time

Does shooting 2-19 from 3 mean Pikiell didn't get his team ready to play?

With a young team right now you take this win. Its part of the rebuild. Give credit as they did come back to win.

No need to say sorry, and you aren't picking on me. Call the post idiotic if you want, but I see a trend.

The team gets up to play Michigan State and Wisconsin but a game like last night and Fordham they play like garbage.

The definition of "getting up" for a game is whether you make your shots or not in the 1st half of games and get to stick with a power program like Michigan State.

Boston U, Fordham, Columbia are games that all fall into the category of playing to the level of your opponent. None of the 3 were good in comparison to Michigan State, Miami or Wisconsin.

The key was winning when you find contributors that haven't been part of the initial 2 games of the season. The 1st 2 games really expanded the horizons of the roster potential and where we wrote off Carter and McConnell.

My question is how does the staff approach the steps forward by Carter and McConnell. They played through their mistakes which was a good staff job IMO. The instincts are to revert back to your starters but the mentions of McConnell and Mathis (& Carter) practicing better doesn't mean others aren't.....they're stepping up to the levels needed.

I don't think getting up for a game is about making your shots in the 1st half. I view it as playing with energy and being prepared. My opinion is if a team plays down to the opponent every time, that falls on the coaching staff.

This team will finish last in the B1G and it's not good enough to take any game lightly.

The positive spin is Carter and McConnell stepping up. The negative spin is Myles Johnson, Montez Mathis and Peter Kiss (who believe should be better players) ineffective and on the bench.

1 sign that I thought would be bad for this team would be a Thaim getting decent minutes

If barely beating a lesser foe at home is some kind of indictment of Rutgers' coaching staff, consider this:

Georgetown 102, UA-Little Rock (5-8) 92, OT
West Virginia 74, Jacksonville State (7-5) 72
Arizona 70, UC-Davis (3-8) 68
Arkansas 73, Texas State (10-2) 70
Mississippi State 67, Wright State (6-7) 63

That's in one day, and only perusing the top seven conferences. Cause for concern? Sure. Reason to panic/throw a fit/call for anyone to be fired? No.

There's no need to "spin" this game. Point out what went right, point out what went wrong just like any other game, then put the "W" in the ledger and move on.

Winning is always good and it’s okay that you posted on the other site. All the crap on that site and a RU sports related thread is an issue for some?
