I’ve Seen Enough of….

I think RU fans want Davis to be Caleb McConnell but he’s not; and no way in hell he becomes a Jacob Young.

Too small, can’t get points, doesn’t get assts or rebounds, doesn’t get steals, and turns ball over.

He should be playing down a level.

GO RU
On a team with 2 future NBA players and the rest of the roster that doesn't play passable D he has a bit of value to this Rutgers team.

We can talk about all that he is not, but the last 2 games he made a significant impact on the defensive end and allowed us to win games.

He did something that no one one the roster is either capable of OR we don't want wasted energy doing (Harper)

I do not agree with the guy saying J Mike is not good. He def played a key role vs PSU and yesterday.

That said, I don't agree he was 3rd most valuable player. Def not yesterday. Derckack was way more important yesterday imho. Jmike was getting bullied/moved around by SHU...JD was able to withstand that

I do agree jmike is giving more value than just the box score.

If you want a defender with quick feet to sprint up and down court against the point guard for some resistance to tire out, I guess I’ll give you that. Bigger guards just play over him though.

He’s in the Jacob Young mold without JY ability.

not sure why he needs to be compared to Jacob Young.

that is what he did....plus get SHU to initiate offense 3-5 feet further from the basket then they wanted and with 5 less seconds.

If we had good interior defense we would have completely shut down an anemic offense in the 2nd half.

Because Pike is a bad coach with blind spots. JMike gives you Zero on either end of the court. He is not a D1 college player and would never touch the floor for any other school in the country.

Pike playing him down the stretch was a complete coaching failure. Pike then saying he was the 3 rd most important player is a way to try and save face or justify Pikes bad decision. Pike hears the whispers so now let me try and sell my mistakes by fabricating someone’s value.

Who are you playing instead?

Who are you playing
Dercack.

I know we had roughly 45 ish offensive positions. Of those 45 JMike’s value was turnovers, missed free throws, no rebounds, and his man doubling Ace and Dylan making it harder and forcing them to use more energy to score . So early not only did he give ZERO value but he also takes away from Ace and Dylan:

Defense SHU had 55(?) possessions. JMike picking up at the foul line and then staying in front of his man making it a little harder to get into a possession. That’s called step 1 of every guard in college basketball. So no praise for playing basic college basketball.

How is Dercack making the above any better? Pike seemed to have stopped JaMike from taking it to the basket in half court. Dercack not so much. Dercack completely missed Ace and Dylan on 2 separate possessions either wide open or ahead of their man cutting to the basket.

Dercack just isn't going to disrupt the opposing offense like JaMike did the past 2 games.

Is that Step 1 of every guard in college basketball. Yes.
Doesn't change the fact that he and Harper are the guys on our roster that can do this and I think we both agree you don't want Harper doing ti

JMike is not a D1 player. Would never touch the floor on any other team in the country. Avgs 0 rebounds 0 steals for a “great defensive “ player is mind boggling awful.

Will ignore his offensive numbers which are iconic bad. Not only are his numbers awful but his complete ineptitude leads other teams doubling Ace and Dylan off of him. So any “energy” he is saving them allegedly on Defense is being taken away by him because he is such a black hole on offense.

Think what you wish but you’re not watching what’s actually happening on the floor.

Again, I feel you can discuss JMike without these silly comments on Derkack.

Jordan's takes to the tin in the 2nd half helped start the comeback. Does he need to pick his spots better? Absolutely...and I think that will come. But his ability to get to the rim is only behind Dylan's. And if he got any sort of fair whistle, the impact would be even bigger. I am pointing this out because you're not attributing correctly the impact he's had on our Offense. Even Decourcy went out of his way to point out how Derkack's contributions were critical towards us coming back to win.

And I completely disagree on your point that JD can't disrupt an offense like JMike. I would argue his size makes him even more impactful than JMike. Pike needed to switch from JMike to JD sooner, as SHU was playing bully ball on JMike.

I dont care what label you want to put on a player or tell me how much he plays on another team

I only care what I see with this team and this year. No one is transferring in so we need to play with the roster we have.

So you can disagree, but when you say you arent watching what happens on the court you are ssying that about me and Pike.

I have watched Davis shutdown Baldwin and disrupt SHU half court offense. That isnt really debateable.

The debate is can Dercak do it and how much does he potentially help offensively over Davis.

We saw Davis can do it and it paid dividends

Dercack missing Ace and Dylan wide open is NOT silly. I think (dont know) it is impacting his PT. JaMike is starting over Dercack. There is a reason….and we will agree it isnt because JaMike is better.

For the record I envision JaMike in the future (beyond this year) as a backup PG playing 5-10 MPG. Nothing more. And JaMike expanded PT this year is an indictment on the roster. With that being said I have full trust in what Pike is doing with this roster Game 11 and he had made a positive impact defensively the last 2 games. He has been awful on both ends of the court the 1st 9 games.

You and PIke are both wrong then. Go back and watch PSU and count of JMike ‘s 19 min were actually on Baldwin.

Don’t count the switches because we switched every pick and roll .

Watch the game don’t just take Pikes lying words of justification into his coaching malfeasance.

You’re not watching . He get bullied and blown by hence our problems in the paint yesterday. Bigs having to stop the ball .

Not a D1 player and is embarrassing on the court

Martini and JaDavis for the year.

Don’t know what one thing each does well to help this team. Shorten the rotation.

GO RU
I agree on Martini. He can't defend anyone away from the basket. Davis didn't play that bad. He keeps his man in front of him as well as anyone except maybe Derkack, and after watching the game again this morning, the offense runs with more fluidity when he's on the court. Stop his out of control drives to the basket and he's a plus.

This! Sorry, but anyone who cannot see J Mike’s value the last 2 games does not know shit about basketball!
Here’s what Fonseca of the Ledger had to say:

Jamichael Davis

Stats: 0 points on 0-of-2 shooting (0-of-2 on free throws), one rebound, one assist, two turnovers, one foul in 19 minutes.

Davis turned the ball over on the first play of the game, a sign of a poor game to come. He struggled to make an impact on either end of the floor in his second consecutive start, actively hurting the Scarlet Knights with multiple wasted offensive possessions in the first half and missing two free throws with
2:44 to play that would have helped Rutgers close out the game.

Derkack also saying hold my beer to some posters. Third most significant player on RU yesterday. What game were you watching?

Well, he's already starting for a Big 10 team. Clueless - he would start for almost every low level D1 team.

Staying in front of your man is "step 1 of every guard in college basketball." What does it say about the rest of the team who can't perform this basic fundamental. I also don't believe JD was on the floor when SHU built up their largest lead yesterday, and didn't he play a lot at the end when we finally took the lead?

Derkack was in at the end of the game got beat by Coleman and the fouled him. He tied up the game on the foul shots.

Thought about this as well. Simpson could play the same roll, hit free throws and would not be needed to score but could get an occasional 10-15pts.

No offense to Fonseca.........he is far from an expert. To say he didn't make an impact defensively....he isn't paying full attention. Fair game to say his contributions on the defensive end doesn't make up for him being a liability on offense.
