I don't think we can beat Army

They're playing PSU close, but more importantly, they're passing the eye test. No way our D is going to stop their tricky offense.
You could be right. We are just not that good this year. So every game will be challenge.

Very team we have coming in the near future is struggling against teams we were supposed to be better than.nwhen is it our turn to put up a battle like IU , Purdue and Army. It's sad to see how even Temple seems to have passed us by. Looking at our schedule if we don't improve the Maryland game will be 2'teams bumbling their way through a mistake prone game to see who ends up in the cellar. Ugh never thought we would be here again but this staff leaves little to be desired.

I was in a really great mood until I read this thread and others on this board. So we suck and will not beat anybody. OK.
Don't you know : to stay in a good mood, stay away from the Scarlet Nation Football Board.
You can expect to see this [poop] posted more than this [banana]

That said, I wanted Army to be a winnable game and now worried if it will be

Watching PSU struggle at home to beat Army and getting out gained by the Black Knights just reminds me of how big an egg we laid in Happy Valley. PSU is not good, but we are worse.

Not an excuse , but we played Pen St with no secondary, no Def line, no Carroo, no Head Coach, awful O line that night, on a loud Sat night in Crappy Valley.

Abro 75 hate attitudes like yours. Always looking for the excuse why we can't win. Rain wind noise blah blah blah. You are probably the guy who last year kept saying we played NFL caliber qb's so we get a buy . Please ! Stfu!

INCORRECT ! It was actually 2 years ago I said that, when we lost to 3 first round QBs Teddy Bridgewater, Blake Bortles, and Derek Carr. How those guys doing now?

No way we lose to Army

However, after watching them today, I don't think we beat Indiana.

So, what was a winnable toss up game for me a few days ago, gets shifted over the the probable loss column now.

Maryland is a bigger dumpster fire on the field than we are right now.

That gets us to 4

That's the spirit OP! As my son says you are never as good as your best win and never as bad as your worse.

Rutgers has traditionally played well against option offenses or at least better than average.

But that doesn't stop the same old people from spewing the same old crap.

We have, no question, but that doesn't mean we can't see what we see out there, right? Plain and simple: Army looked much better - MUCH BETTER - against PSU's D than we did and we are not very disciplined on D which, as you know, is the "key" to stopping their O. It could - COULD - make for a more difficult day than we expected.

Fair point Nuts but if you watched the game, Hack was pretty poor. Missed some wide open receivers. PSU had numerous chances to pull away but couldn't get it done.

Rusk , how clueless and stupid is your post. We play the service academies every year and defend that triple option better than almost any team in the country. Your football IQ is about zero. Kinda how I rate this stupid thread

Question for the Floodies....

We now had 4 midmajors able to score 2 TDs on TTFP, yet RU couldn't manage even one....

Can you admit that this team, due to total mismanagement, is not a B1G level team?

It's the fact that Army scored 2 TD's on a D that we had no shot at the end zone against.

are the "Floodies" known as the Blue Sky Crowd.
I once was a Floodie, but that dried out, but still have BS ([winking]) in me most of the time .

Transitive property when comparing football results is for morons.

So many things can cause a game to break a certain way for one team or another.

Who managed to score what on PSU is irrelevant. We lost. Army lost. We will beat Army.

Hudson - agree wholeheartedly but who is using the transitive property? Shit, if that was the case, I/we'd call this a "W" for The Black Knights, right? I'm going based on what I saw, watching both games, and how I think THIS RU D matches u against Army's O.

I have us at 4 now, too - same wins. However, football being an odd game, if we can somehow pull together, especially in the secondary, and continue to get better on the OL, we might just pull off one more win, like at Indiana or maybe even home to Nebraska, if they have a bad day (which happens).

Lots of people are using the transitive and talking about how many scores Army put up, or South Dakota State or whatever.

It's silliness.

Common opponents can give you some insight, but getting wrapped up in it--like NIRH, as one example, is doing--makes very little sense.

Last year, Navy was in the game with OSU until early in the 4th quarter. They rushed for over 350 yards against OSU. By every transitive metric, Navy should have run for well over 300 on RU (the one situation where I can't say "us" for RU..lol). So much so, I bet my tailgate a rather expensive steak dinner on that particular outcome. Well, we know how that played out. RU held Navy to its lowest rushing output of the season, if memory serves.

Games unfold in funny ways. And the transitive analyses don't capture that.

Army lost to Fordham. By the transitive, they shouldn't beat a D1a team all year.

That's all...I wasn't referring to you specifically.

No one ever said they weren't NFL caliber the discussion was about you making excuses and being a wuss . Grow up you play who is on your schedule and not make excuses if the other team had talent . Man up !

Did Army become some kind of super power all of a sudden? Yes we can beat Army.

Agree!

Yes Army is obviously beatable - but they aren't Howard or North Texas (who Fordham would beat just like they beat Temple). RU better not go up the Hudson thinking they are going to win by 30. If Army hadn't fumbled 7 times (lost 3) on Sat they beat PSU (their only 1st half TD came after Army fumble). I can understand why PSU fans are upset. Army has - not one - but two mediocre QBs who are somewhat allergic to making big plays. But Army starting to block the option well enough to give teams a game. They are even getting called for chop blocks with some regularity so they are pushing the envelope. Ellerson left the cupboard kind of bare and Munk lost good skill players on offense but the lineman are playing better than they have since 2010. Army isn't good but they are moving in right direction. If they can get rid of their football follies and make a 40yd FG now and then they will be able to win 5 or 6 games soon instead of 2 or 3.

I wasn't being transitive. What I'm saying is that we are the only team not to score a TD on them and they played 4 midmajors who scored at least 2 a piece- which doesn't mean we'd lose to Army, just that our offense is atrocious, which many of our fans deny.

The other thing I'm saying is that it's BS when some say "Go root for Ohio State"...because we cannot even be competitive and do what teams with less resources do, which is be competitive with even a bad team.

I think we may lose to Army, or basically anyone, because we are bad team, and we have seen the Flood in November show- there is always a total no show but he will win the last game so someone can argue he doesn't suck and forget how we couldn't even get a TD against a horrible team.
