They really should not get punished by the voters for a razor thin loss at Iowa.
I hope we lose the top 25 ranking. We play better without it and we need the underdog mentality down the stretch. Let them play feeling disrespected for losing the ranking. I want to make the tournament. Everything else is fluff.

18 - Texas Tech - DROP/Possibly OUT (lost at TCU, playing Kentucky now)
19 - Iowa - Safe
20 - Memphis - OUT (lost at home to unranked SMU)
21 - Illinois - Safe
22 - Arizona - Probably safe (playing at ASU today)
23 - Colorado - Probably safe (home vs. Washington today)
24 - Rutgers - Who knows?
25 - Houston - Safe as long as they beat USF
Memphis is the only definite out. LSU will definitely be in as they had a 2-0 week. I think Wichita State jumps us too if they beat UCF for a 2-0 week.

i disagree, why are you worried about rankings, actually I think this team is better off falling to 26 or 27. The true goal is to get to the tournament
Not to put too fine a point on it, but I hate this line of reasoning. Winning cultures become winning cultures by learning to play with a lead and retain the lead, and they learn how to be ranked and remain internally motivated to keep on winning. We need to grow into that next step, which is that we are good and we play to win, whether it's with a chip on our collective shoulder or a different belief system that keeps us driving our opponents into the ground. We cannot continuously look for negative outcomes, in whatever form they manifest, to keep a chip on our shoulders, since we have to lose games or a ranking in order for that to apply. Win, learn to win, and keep winning whether people respect us or not. Since the name of the game is winning, losing doesn't help.
Yup. I stopped at two teams. Michigan was #19 and fell out because of a loss at Iowa. It's just how this poll inertia works.
All I care about is getting to those 5-6 wins we need for the tourney. Im kinda expecting to be preseason top 25 going into next yr - if we finish this season with a good impression. Then next yr I'll care about holding to a top 25 spot
Keep winning and the rankings will take care of themselves.
My current estimate is we drop out to around 27 but if we win our next 2 winnable games (Purdue at home & Michigan at MSG) we jump back in. As others said, the ultimate goal is making the tournament. We need to just keep RACking up Ws.

Clearly making the tournament is the top priority but for those that think rankings don’t matter at all, you’re nuts. No reason why they can’t do both - stay ranked and make the tournament. Perception matters.
Texas Tech losing to Kentucky late, they lost to TCU earlier in the week....they would be 12-7 so might go from 18 to out...they should
IMHO more to do with playing 3 games in 6 days including a very physical game at away with a quick turnaround for a 2PM start today. Not sure the players are as star struck with the Top 25 ranking as many of us are
I think we might barely stay in or we could drop to # 26 or # 27. If we slip out of the Top 25 it might make us more determined against Purdue and Michigan. either way we have a very important week ahead of us. My son and I will again be at both games and I will attend practice again on Monday. This team is so much fun to watch.
Memphis def out with 40 pt loss at Tulsa and home loss to SMU. Az and RU I'd say are on the fence. I could see RU anywhere from staying at 24 to dropping to 26.
