It is not likely the changes listed below are solely due to membership in the Big Ten, but it is hard to believe there was not some impact
1) although equal numbers of offers were made, ~40 more medical students accepted the offers as compared to previous years (~150 students jumped to ~191) including 22 more from out of state
2) new Dean of the Medical School was recruited from The Mayo Clinic, one of the top clinical/research institutes in the country
3) new Chair of Medicine from Johns Hopkins
4) new Senior Vice Chancellors from Johns Hopkins and from UPenn
(these are like 4 and 5 star recruits for the star gazers :))
Anyway, it is nice to see some positive things happen, whatever the reason.
