It wasn't a rebuilding year for mbb, it was the start to the next step in the process to get us to where we need to be competing for Sweet 16s, Elite 8s, Final 4s every year, especially with the up tick in recruiting the next few years. Unfortunately it was derailed by Mawot Mag's ACL tear in an unnecessary game at the Garden which deflated the team's morale. There is depth on the team just no one to replace what Mag provided as a player when we were going well.
Hopefully, Chol, Ndongo or Portal can find a complementary backup to the skill set Mag provides, so this doesn't happen again in 23-24. We were all set to make a run at first place at 8-4 to Purdue's 11-1, RU 1-0 vs Pur. Injuries happen, it just happened to the wrong player at the wrong time that we had no replacement for this year. It happens, doesn't mean that this team isn't proud for what it accomplished and there will always be that "what if" that will drive this team next year. Still plenty positive about the foreseeable future to come.
