There is no argument- we possibly have the best player in college and another lottery pick- if we don’t make the NCAA, why would a top player come here.
Agreed bac. While its somewhat an issue in football it’s not nearly to the degree of basketball. It used to be awesome watching kids come in as lanky 6’7 frosh and grow into the men and B1G defensive player of the year like caleb. Now its just every single year is a group of brand new mercenaries who we see play for 4 months and then those guys are out and new mercenaries are in.
Its why I dont really follow college basketball anymore. Its a bunch of entitled kids who couldnt care less about what school theyre playing for.
In football due to it being more of a team sport and much more complicated to perpetually learn new systems, techniques etc we are luckily able to still feel like were getting to know kids. Like monangai, longerbeam, powell, toure, aaron lewis. Heck, I got teary eyed when I heard aaron lewis mother passed as we had heard she was sick and how aaron cared so much for her. That doesnt exist in bball

I know. Was defining “early” for RU overall. So for basketball, we’re just at the Big Bang first split second of existence. Nothing at all to worry about given this fanbase’s extreme tolerance.
They're surrounded by the 7th leading scorer in the nation last year, JWill who was very good last year, 2 40% 3 point shooting seniors, the player of the year in the NEC last year, a 6'11, 270 lb. monster who has played better than most expected, and D. Grant, the best high school player in the state of Michigan. Oh, and 4* L. Summerville. This is about coaching and only coaching. Pike makes GS look like Knute Rockne.

Hardly. Did Georgia attempt an indoor 59 yard FG on the last play of the first half tonight ? Or did Kirby realize even in perfect conditions it’d be unmakeable. GS can’t outcoach the cooling fans behind the benches in early September.
I almost forgot about that insanely stupid decision, but at least GS teaches the fundamentals of his sport. That is why he has turned out a bunch of pros.

Having a QB, bringing in top 35 classes, cultivating coordinators who move up, putting guys in the NFL, finishing the year 3-1 with one win that should have been ours vs a ranked opponent (not on the players..proud of them in that game)..anyone that can't see progress on the football side of things is literally a blind fool. I think the idea that we can't afford to buy Pike out with $16,000,000 remaining to be paid him over five years is absurd. We're getting over $400,000,000 million from the Big 10 during that time. Does RU have the balls is the real question.

We go to a bowl 2 years in a row and all of the sudden everyone is like "well this is the ceiling" despite the fact we were a few lucky balls away from more even this year. It's nonsense. People just want 10 wins as soon as we have our roster back to barely serviceable and ignore that the recruiting classes have improved every year
Should we concentrate on establishing a strong Zone D since we don't have the athletes to play man outside of Harper, and maybe JWill, maybe Ace eventually (he has the talent and athletic ability of course but he's still a frosh and looks like he can be muscled-out)?
