Sit Dylan

Stop acting like a tool. You have no effing clue how much pain he's in or how significant his injury is.
Come on man.

I’m not throwing shade at the kid. There’s guys who can go out and play injured and make it work and there’s guys who can’t. Dylan is not a guy who does well when he’s sick or dinged up.

He’s a great player but playing at less than 100% isn’t his thing.

What’s embarrassing is not knowing your player well enough to sit him when he’s not healthy and not contributing.
PSU coach played Ace Baldwin 40 mins the other day with back spasms. Ace was on board to endure the punishment and coach knew he could count on him.

To Zaps point, Pike needs to know what he has here. Playing Harper today was a waste for Pike and Dylan.

You’re exactly right zap…..

Is Harper demanding to play and Pike is saying “go for it”

Or

Is Harper reluctant to play and Pike is saying “Cmon we really need you”?

He has looked awful… absolutely awful when not feeling well or “hurt”. I put “hurt in quotes because who knows if he is actually hurt or trying not to get hurt.

Either way, it sucks. When he is in the game all he does is stand around. Its not a good look either way.

Do those same guys have 500-700 million on the line if they get hurt worse?

Business decisions

And yet he tried to play anyway which is the opposite of your point

2nd half he couldn't even run down the court

Watch the replay of how bad his ankle turned on the injury. Crazy tough to even try to play

People are beyond clueless. It's embarrassing and insulting to Harper

Why the F is he playing?

I am disappointed with this season, we all are, that we can agree on. But I don’t get the questioning Dylan’s toughness stuff, makes no sense to me. I might question how Pike and staff has managed and handled Dylan’s flu illness and his current injury, but not Dylan’s toughness….some people always have to try and move issues into weird territories, this is one of those cases.

Bc he's tough and cares. The exact oppposite of what some of these fools are saying

Pike really should protect him from himself and sit him. I agree with you

There is a difference between being 80% where you can play through it and be effective. Still a positive impact on the team

Dylan was clearly too injured hobbling up the court. They rightfully finally pulled him and sat him

No one should’ve been surprised he couldn’t play. You have a full week of practice and warmups. Why was the outcome of how’d he look a surprise.

You practice like you play, if he wasn’t full go in practice (my assumption), sit him until he’s full go.

I'm sure they all had a good idea he was hurt but Dylan wanted to give it a go so they let him

You think the staff thought he was fine and this was a surprise to them? Lol wut

Back to the point of the thread, save the kid and the team from himself. The kid has shown he’s not effective with illness/injury, just sit him. Pike is the coach and the adult.

Him playing hurt him and didn’t really help the team so why play him.

Hopefully he gets back to 💯 and is the savage we all want to see. Right now he’s not helping anytbing.

Yes. Why the need to clearly innacurately question his toughness and slander his character is the problem with the thread

Some guys don’t play well hurt…that’s not a character assault. Derkack was apparently questionable and played the game of his life.

You’re reaching here buddy. Dylan is a great kid from a great family that’s been good to RU.

Him being uncomfortable playing hurt doesn’t change anything.

What nice things? Two NBA one and done players who will leave the program in way worse shape then before they came?

We had over 14k Rutgers fans at the garden today…. But wE dOnT DeSeRvE NiCe ThInGs.. give me a break.

Whats pathetic is this season.
Your anger is completely misdirected

WTF are you even talking about?
Sit him and get him healthy, we can beat anyone with a 110 percent Dylan
What am I talking about? Oh I don’t know, the people in this thread basically questioning his toughness. The kid has had some bad luck with illnesses and injuries this year. You seemed to take my post personally even though it wasn’t directed towards you

Definitely justified to question his toughness. Not only that but on the bench just sits there quietly. He doesn’t even seem engaged with the game. It definitely appears he dgaf. Who knows what really is going on.
He could barely move and obviously the ankle stiffened up. You are a clueless poster. He was fycking hurt and tried to give it a go and made key basket to cut it to 3 at the half but sat halftime ankle got worse . For anyone who has actually played and twisted their ankle , it is damn miserable.
Zap questioning playing Dylan when he at 10% gives you more than Acuff and JMike combined and most nights Jeremiah. Pike was between a rock and a hard place. It was shocking at MSG when he wasn’t introduced with the starting lineup.

Soooo Carino just made up that he was practicing fine and “looked like his old self”?

Looks to me like Harper didnt want to play but Pike made him…. Not that Pike didnt want to olay and Harper insisted on it.

Why is he practicing if he is hurt?
Exactly.

SOMETHING stinks here.

In my opinion, it is Harper playing things safer than most, which is fine considering the amount of money on the line for him.

In the end, this is a moot point because he has another handful of games for us then we will be very very far in his rearview mirror with a mess to deal with.

You're 110% throwing shade at the kid, concluding, without any knowledge of what his condition is, that he's simply not tough enough to play well through his injury. You should just stop continuing to make dumb, uninformed posts on this.

We shouldn’t be questioning Harper. I think a lot of fans don’t trust what’s being said due to past issues with Mag and some others, and the fact that there’s rarely any transparancy. However, I do know that the version of Harper we’ve seen in most of the past few games, should not be on the court. If, for no other reason, than for his own health. That Harper is a shell of what we know to be true.

I do wonder that if the team continues on its downward spiral, that the lineup isn’t decidedly different.

Maybe he was fine while Carino was there. Maybe he tweaked the ankle again later in practice or later in the day. Anyone who has ever rolled an ankle hard like he did should know that these things can be very touchy. Also, presumably, the team doc would be the one to clear him to play/practice and if he was cleared to practice/play, then it's not Pike's fault that DH gave it a go. And if that's the case, it doesn't mean DH came out because "he didn't want to play" - it's far more likely he tried his best, but the pain was just too much and he and Pike realized it and sat him down. It is fair to ask whether it would be better for him to shut any activity down until he's healthy again.

Bottom line, though, is none of us "knows" exactly what the situation is, so making definitive statements about the situation is not justified.

Carino is a moron.
