Nine IU players suspended for football season opener

BLOOMINGTON -- Nine Indiana football players missed the Hoosiers' season opener against Southern Illinois on Saturday for failing to "live up to their responsibilities to the program."
In a statement released by the program just minutes before kickoff, IU confirmed that Darius Latham, Will Dawkins, Tim Gardner, Greg Gooch, Ralph Green III, Isaac Griffith, Alex Rodriguez, Tegray Scales and Tyler Burgett will all sit out against the Salukis.
Asked about the suspensions on the halftime show, Glass said: "Actions speak louder than words and we'll keep doing it."
Gardner (Lawrence Central) and Latham (North Central) are both area products.
"They have not lived up to their responsibilities to the program," the statement read. "We will have no further comment regarding this matter."
Some of the aforementioned players have been involved in publicized off-the-field incidents this offseason, including Green's arrest in April, and Griffith's OWI arrest in late May.
IU coach Kevin Wilson has evaded questions about potential discipline for those incidents throughout the preseason, saying any such punishments would be handled internally.

Think I saw they were losing to a minor team. Wonder if it was a bunch of starters suspended.
