Wait....what? That is a ridiculous statement. Even my non-Rutgers co-workers were asking about the game all week. Many Rutgers fans and NJ residents have never heard of Iowa and don't realize it is a state or a large public university. Rutgers fans will attend games when they have heard of the other team.
Iowa had 4-5k there. Probably about 2k in upper deck and 2-3k scattered around lower bowl. Quiet fans.
i dont need evidence.. You are a troll. You should get the ban hammerCool. I've posted my evidence. Where's yours?
I believe it was way less. I actually estimated their attendance section by section during the game, and between the west (Iowa side of the field) stands and end zone the had no more than 1,500. I would put the total less than 2,000.
Cool. I've posted my evidence. Where's yours?
The West upper tier was 75% full. 50% Hawkeye fans.
I don't think there was more than 40K in attendance I would put the Iowa contingent in the 4-5K range. There are alot of empty seats and our offense lulled the crowd to sleep for most of the game.
Finally, someone takes off the scarlet-colored glasses and tells it like it is.I don't think there was more than 40K in attendance I would put the Iowa contingent in the 4-5K range. There are alot of empty seats and our offense lulled the crowd to sleep for most of the game.
We were there close to kick off and it was pretty empty but the there was a pretty substantial crowd that came in during the first quarter. No matter what phony number RU releases, "under" is officially the correct answer. I don't know if a Big Ten stadium has ever been so empty at kickoff. This is an embarrassment to the university and the worst part is that this game is nationally televised on ESPN2.
Late arriving crowd exacerbated by the new surprise "TSA Inspired" security rules. No wanding, but every jacket & stadium blanket unrolled, glasses cases opened, wallets opened, anything resembling a bottle such as sunscreen getting confiscated, etc.We were there close to kick off and it was pretty empty but the there was a pretty substantial crowd that came in during the first quarter.
27,786 ... not a bad crowd for a team with a 1-2 record:BTW - nearly as man Iowa fans at HPSS as their are Temple fans at The Linc today. Gotta laugh at the thoughts of them EVER being remotely considered for a P5 slot. I mean they had a HUGE season in 2015 - granted not as good as some here and their fans want to think - and still can't draw for shit.
Cool. I've posted my evidence. Where's yours?
He didn't post at kickoff. He tweeted during the 4TH QUARTER when RU announced its attendance figure and said there wasn't 44K in the stadium. Those are the facts, even if you don't like them.Dude u are wrong. We're u at the game? If some reporter posted at kickoff, that's not the accurate attendance.
Attendance of 44,061 seems very close to accurate, but it's also very embarrassing to have 8,000-10,000 empties for an upper tier B1G team that went 12-0 last year & we were 2-1 with perfect weather. Embarrassing.
The West upper tier was 75% full. 50% Hawkeye fans.
I think you need to learn the difference between one man's estimate and fact.He didn't post at kickoff. He tweeted during the 4TH QUARTER when RU announced its attendance figure and said there wasn't 44K in the stadium. Those are the facts, even if you don't like them.
Total bullshit. Maybe 1,000 Iowa fans in the upper deck visiting side at most.
I sit in 225 straight across form the west tier at about the 35 yard line. I don't know how you come up with more than half. Again in the whole upper tier there might have been 800 Iowa fans. It's no big thing. I'm just worried about your eyesight.
The actual Tweet from the reporter you quoted, Mike Hlas (bolded for emphasis): "Today's attendance at Iowa-Rutgers: 44,061. Actual number of fans here: Less than 44,061." Notice he did not say "nowhere near 44K were there" as you suggest. Now, his Tweet may have been full of snark; in reading his Tweets and blog posts he seems like quite the sarcastic douche. In other words, he would fit right in at the Star Ledger. So would you for that matter as you can't get your facts straight or distinguish fact from opinion. Then I provided a reporter's account of the game, which said nowhere near 44K were there.
A part of me wants to believe that statement, but I just saw the #8 team in nation play the #11 team at noon.People need to realize we are not a great team and this is a noon game. Stop kidding yourselves. If we are 5-0 and it's a 3:30 against a B1G team, the seats will be full. Just be real, it'll save u a ton of anguish.

Agree; I estimated row by row, section by section in the West upper deck during the game, as noted in my earlier post. Your 800 is not far off from my count for the upper deck. I also estimated in the lower bowl west side and end zone. 20 to 50 in each section from 101 to 117. Maybe another 400 to 600. Add the east side where there were a few here and there and it totals around 2,000. That it. It was not a good showing for Iowa. We had way way more at Penn State in 2015 and OSU in 2014. We had much bigger sections and the rows were packed. However, this year our attendance at OSU will be much less as I am guessing it was a one time visit for many of us in 2014.

Not sure if you care about my opinion but I'd guess 6k Iowa fans. The official Iowa tailgate had 4K. There were at least 2k more of us that didn't go.
