At this level, it's not a wow hire. Think about the teams we compete with and then ask yourself, what other school would hire someone with his actual accomplishments? Maryland, OSH, Michigan, MSU, Indiana, no way. Maybe Penn. St. Maybe.
Rutgers basketball isn't in a position where they can compare who they can actually hire with who some other Big Ten schools might be able to hire. It'd be like Boston College football comparing a football hire with who Florida State or Clemson might hire.
You take who you can get with some upside and hope they pan out. Eddie Jordan had zero upside. Hurley might at least have a chance at turning Rutgers into a middle tier Big Ten program.
