Was just reading Jerry Carino:

- Delany has spoken with MSG about future and has presented them with a powerful and promotional plan.

- Delany emphasized that B1G 10 will not play early like it did last year.

- Delany states that he can elevate MSG to the next level with regard to post season play.

This will be quite interesting to see how this shakes out as there's no way MSG will be the annual tourney site given the B1G 10's allegiance to Chicago and Indy so that being said, I can see the following:

- MSG becomes the site every 1 of 3 years.
- Delany provides MSG with an offer they can't refuse
- Delany maybe has B1G - ACC Challenge (or at least premier games) in MSG as enticement - as well as possible NCAA Tourneys with B1G 10 as Sponsor.
- Delany works out a timeshare with the BE or gives the BE as well an offer it can't refuse whereby every 3rd year when B1G 10 is at MSG - BE has its tourney in midwest to appease Xavier; Creighton etc.

I don't think from a financial perspective that the BE can match the B1G 10's financial resources given its private schools and lower inventory (10 schools vs 14 schools).

I peeked on the SHU board and naturally many of their posters are worried and concerned about this.

What are everyone else's thoughts about what Delany's plan is?

Here is his quote where 80% of the time tourney in Midwest:

“Next four years, Chicago, Indianapolis, Chicago, Indianapolis. Long-term, as noted, we’ll have probably 80% of our post-season play in the Midwestern region, probably 20% out east.”

This will happen and more than every 5th year

The above was said months ago and may be applicable thru 2025 or whenever the msg contract with the Big East terminates or maybe Delany changed his mind about 80 20. Why put together such an extensive plan per se for 1 of 5 year plan? I think there s more consistent rotation in mind now. Guess we ll see shortly. I'm sure the ACC would love MSG as well though I do believe they have already obligated themselves to Barclays again in a few years.

Having Big Ten-ACC challenge games off-campus would be an awful idea. Not sure what Delaney's big plan is but no chance it's in NY 1/3 of the time. Midwest fans (and coaches) pretty much hated it. The Big East outdrew us and they have 30 years of history there, not to mention the St. John's connection.

Agreed

That quote was at media day yesterday:

1 year in 4 max. Perhaps 1 in 5.

If 1/4 , in an 8 year cycle, Big East could have "regular" slot at MSG for 6 years, have an early tourney at MSG in 1 year and go elsewhere 1 year (Brooklyn, Midwest, Philly).

I don't see how they could share MSG during the same week. Early rounds each conference has two sessions, and I can't see how MSG could squeeze in FOUR sessions on a single day; then later rounds both conferences will want their games at night.

So in order for this to work, it would have to be BE playing its tournament in Philly or something. No way will the BE play in the Midwest just to appease Xavier. No freaking way. But I'm sure Nova would love the tourney in Philly.

That's because all people do is bitch about everything instead of embracing a new chapter in life.

you are correct that it just can't happen having 2 major conference tournaments in the same building at the same time. Only way Big Ten pulls it off would be to have the Big East move to a different location. While the Big East might not want to do that, the Big Ten might have the financial muscle to make it happen.
