We are seeing so many plays on offensive and defense that Flood would never have allowed if he was on the sideline.

Maybe it's just a coincidence that the ONE TIME we gave a great team a hard game he hasn't been head coach for 3 weeks...

Burns our (ALWAYS) much needed time outs like Flood , so I'd say it's all the same. Honestly, he doesn't really do anything on the sideline.

Team looks like they prepped very well ... Strong against the run, and contested almost every throw. Looks like they spent a lot of time breaking down film. Good to see some blitzes. Also think Caroo coming back helped. Team looked energized. Feeling like next week is 50/50 chance to win.

If we play like today and IU still has its key injuries at RB/QB I say better than 50/50.

You forget that Flood will be back.
So? I can't tell you why we suddenly blitzed more this week and threw more deep balls but Flood is with the team during the week. The game plan just didn't materialize out of thin air on gameday. So whatever you saw today, you would think had his blessing and input. Hopefully, we continue to see what we did today.

Have you ever watched Flood on the sidelines, he listens on the headphones, takes notes, and yells 'right here' while pointing to the ground after burning timeouts...that's basically it. Wilson did a good job tonight, I especially liked seeing him get on Denman after a bad play. Something nice guy Flood would never do.

you keep believing whatever you want to believe. today's game definitely was different than a typical Fraud called game.

It has nothing to do with the head coach. I think the coordinators schemed a better game plan against a running team. Players also executed much better, tackling well for the most part and secondary sticking with their man in man coverage so that even if the WR catches the ball he gets little to no YAC while getting hit hard.

Or the coaches that weren't suspended decided to call the game as they saw it, without the benefit of Flood's input.

Wilson was on the sideline for the last 2 games as well why didn't we play like this if it was him? The gameplan is put in during the week and Flood is there for that. So whether it's bad or good, he's going to have a hand in it.

And where was all this during the last 2 games?

Mind you I'm not some big Flood fan and if he were to be let go, it wouldn't bother me. But you can't have it both ways. He's there for practice and game planning during the week. If it sucks it's on him and if it's good it's the game day coaches. That's not fair. If it's sucks it's on him and if it's good it's on him. If he didn't have any contact with the team at least I could say okay maybe. But he's there for everything except gameday.

We never blitzed as much as we did tonight all season long. It reminded of the defenses we used to have.

And we even had Lavisno thrown It long once!

Yeah, Flood has proven that he gives the DC the freedom to blitz and he would've definitely gone for it at close to midfield. Flood has a body of work and tonight looked nothing like it.

you can reason all you want. all speculation.
all i know is what i see. i saw a different team under Wilson than Fraud. that's all.
did you see Wilson ripping Denman after a poor play? that's coaching, imho.

Flood game plans and coaches all week. To suggest that Norries comes in Sat. morning and scraps it for what he thinks is good is crazy talk.

Flood has gone for 4th downs near midfield before I don't think that's anything unique to Wilson. That kind of things is actually a game day management. The amount of blitzing though I don't think so. That is something that they must have planned on during the week. I liked it and was surprised by how much we did it. I hope it continues.

If it doesn't that'll also be on Flood. If it does again on Flood. Being away from the team just on one day doesn't divorce him from strategy during the week and what we see on gameday.

Or wishful thinking..,

He may have helped install the gameplan but he didn't make a single call or decision in the game. Wilson and the staff did. It's speculation on my part but I think in the first two games Wilson called the game the way he thought Flood would, tonight he said you know what I'm calling the game my way. Like I said, just my opinion.

That's fine. You're entitled. I don't agree with it and give you my reasoning but you're entitled to believe what you like.

You don't have to scrap the game plan to call a better game.

What's funny is that when we get blownout and Flood is on the sidelines, it's the DC's fault, bad play calling, players not executing, it's on everybody but Flood. When we play a decent game and Flood isn't even in the building he should be given credit for some reason. It makes no sense.

Makes no difference, they both play the wrong quarterback, can you
imagine what the score would be if we had the qb with the strong
arm throwing to Carroo.

Excellent point about Wilson not giving Denman or any player a pass for bad plays. That stuff matters and good players respond to tough love

The OC calls the game no different than if Flood was there. Can you guys list all these calls/decisions Flood wouldn't approve of?

It was refreshing to see the headcoach showing some fire and getting on a player that clearly messed up. He did something Flood rarely does...hold a player accountable, Denman looked shocked.
