These are the best of times. We’ll talk about this season for many years to come regardless of how things end. These guys are special. The ultimate team guys who just play with heart and balls.

Nobody wants anything to do with this team in Round 1.

I was going to post something like this, but I'm trying to decide if it's more like 2005 -- when we *first* got into a bowl and it was a "nice" story but nothing too magical -- or 2006, when it became a magical run that captured the attention of the entire college football world.

We're going to find out over the next six weeks.

It feels like we are skipping a step (getting that allusive winning season). 2005 was fun and there was an excitement, but not like the wider buzz that 2006 brought. This team is getting praise from a lot of outside people (not just the big ten) and it feels different (at least through the first 18 games). I don't want this ride to end!

The difference is - this won't be a one year thing. Next year we'll be even better, and just as good the following season.

Funny, I was talking about that with the friends we brought today, since they are season ticket holders in football with our group since 2006 (and started going to some games around 2004), but aren't big hoops fans, in general. I explained how RU hoops is having a year like we did in 2005 in football, where we first realized how good we were and finally broke through to that first bowl game after 27 years of mostly futility (since the 78 bowl) - making the NCAAs after 29 years of mostly futility would be similar to me. And then next year is the year we challenge for the Final Four, kind of like 2006. Unless of course we go even further this year than anyone can imagine...
