Hobbs planned and said this week assuming Hurley would say Yes, Now we are moving on to other candidates still coaching...so unless it is Boyle or Masiello, I'd guess we won't hear anything until early next week at the earliest

Lonergan, Pikiell, Cluess all are busy next few days

Pikiell could have time tomorrow, not sure about the others.

Pikiell will be free Friday at ~12:01am after they get beat by Kentucky So yes Steve Pikiell per Lexington Kentucky talk shows they are saying outright, "Stony Brook will lose their coach to Rutgers" scuttlebutt or not it makes sense as Hurley and Williams withdrew their names as they did not make the final cut.

That would be wrong of Pikiell to have even phone interviewed for RU Job this week instead of 100% attention and focus to their NCAA game

In classic RU fashion, Pikiell will beat Kentucky, get all sorts of major interest, and end up somewhere else...

then what would all of you sourpusses say!?!!

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Could, of course, but why make an announcement on days when guaranteed to not get any national coverage whatsoever? All basketball writers are a bit busy at the moment.

Maybe he chatted last week or even the week before? Maybe he had lunch with Hobbs at a North Jersey or LI diner during the Xmas break?

Don't rush, this hire is critical to the entire athletic department. We cannot make a mistake this time.
LOL. This could have been painted on the front of the RAC right after Tom Young left. But yes, you are right. IHWT.

Seems like Pikiell has high emotional intelligence and great character: http://www.app.com/story/sports/college/2016/03/12/why-stony-brook-coach-steve-pikiell-rutgers-radar/81689762/

"in April 2014, after signing a contract extension that pushed his average salary above $300,000, Pikiell donated $50,000 back to the school. Half was earmarked for the men's basketball program, half to the Stony Brook Long Island Children's Hospital."

Hobbs clearly values stand-up guys like that.
Thanks, Coldsprings! Pikiell just went up a full standard deviation in my book.

Might it be possible to get Pikiell and bring in Calhoun as a Friedgen type guy? I don't know what Calhoun was sanctioned for, but if not serious, this would make a splash as a hire. (Again, don't know situation with Calhoun, so some may want to help out on this fantasy.)

Fine with me if this takes another week or so. I won't start worrying until other dominoes start falling
