For those of us who had visions of the Minnesota meltdown from a couple years ago, especially after Acuff missed that front end....J Mike going 6 for 6 from the line (and Bailey 2 for 2) was super clutch...especially since the D decided to stop trying at the end.

Shelby is probably the biggest JMike critic on the internet but he played his ass off and he and Dortch put them in the win column tonight.

JMike had been in the game for a long stretch, and Pike was probably thinking that it would be better to have JWill in for the end game instead of JMike because of foul shooting. JMike sure proved him wrong with 6-6 in crunch time.

J mike has the heart of a competitor. He gets every bit out of his talent. If we had 4 more like him giving it absolutely everything they’ve got at all times then we’d be sitting different right now

He played under control, but with great energy tonight. The was one rebound in the second half where he just wanted the ball more than the USC big men; I love when his effort gets rewarded like that.

Any game where a guard plays and has ZERO turnovers is a plus on the team's bottom line.

He also entered this game 16 of 30 (52%).....from the FT line on the season. After his 8 for 8 from the stripes tonight, he is up to 63.1% from the line.

Hes also 14 of his last 32 3 point attempts, whicb is very very efficient and hard to maintain. Small steps forward starting to impact winning games.

34.2 from 3 and climbing. Not too bad for a guy who can't shoot the 3. So many posters gave up on this kid after one year. Never listened too any of it.

I think the more talent that Rutgers has at other positions next year the more likely it is that he starts.

His guard play along with JWill and Acuff has shown some steady improvement last few games.

Paradoxically D was much better last year.

JMike has a 3.4 assist to TO ratio (51/15). He must not have enough minutes played or assists to be listed amongst the NCAA leaders, but if he did, he would rank 8th in the entire country in this statistic.

We had a play where martini put Cohen on his back AND JaMike put his man on his back and the other 3 did NOT go after the rebound.

J-Mike has improved his ball distribution and 3P shooting at 35%.

He still possesses the worst layup and mid-range game. I've never seen a guy smoke as many layups as him. He either misses a layup or gets blocked.

Give him props. I was down on him for over-driving and poor shooting. But he had reduced the drive numbers and improved shooting % a lot. And defense still strong. Everyone should follow his lead and play to their skills. Way to go JMike.

Considering his improvement and the fact he is just a Sophomore, he is going to be a big piece next year. He could be the only guy on the current roster that plays Pikiell's style. We need to rebuild this team around Pike's strengths and JMike is going to be a big part of it next year.
