Jay Paterno wanted to work for Urban Meyer

Only took you 5 days to find that one
Not long enough , in my opinion.
Let Jay beg for a job, nepotism got him his last one and now begging for one.
Guess beer sales are down and becoming a Beer Baron is out [cheers]

Think he needs to go down to 1AA and work his way back by earring his way

Yeah, but with that last name everybody knows he'll do the right thing...no matter the consequences.

I would say the Paterno name is more toxic then Sandusky in college football. He's not getting a job.

He sent a simple letter of inquiry to a few coaches looking for current/future employment. Not really news. I don't think the Paterno name being toxic is the reason why he hasn't found work. I don't think he ever cut his teeth/earned his stripes away from his father. Furthermore, he never really distinguished himself as an innovator or recruiter. Nothing special on resume. 1AA or even D3 might be the route, if he really wants to coach.

Schiano seemed tight with the Paterno family. I bet (not a lot, lol), that if Schiano gets a college HC again, and Paterno was interested, Schiano would find a slot for him. Hell, I'm sure he could recruit Pennsylvania , if nothing else.

Other then the fact he can't coach the Paterno name will never darken the tOSU football program. The name definitely is toxic. Thanks to his old man.

No, and it has nothing to do with his name. Jay is a terrible coach. Probably the worst I have ever seen at PSU. Can't recruit, can't motivate, lacks innovation, lacks expertise... the guy literally had recruits who should have been PSU locks running for the hills.

I stand corrected ! lol. I had no idea he was that bad at recruiting, not to mention actual coaching. Interesting.

He was responsible for recruiting Ohio for us and sucked so bad that we didn't even consider kids from that state as viable options. He also found a way to scare Chad Henne into going to Michigan despite his whole family being huge PSU fans. The guy stank.

He is a good writer though.

It's ridiculous that he kept applying for top jobs such as Head Coach or Offensive Coordinator. He was in dream land.

It would not piss off the great majority of Penn State fans. And possibly almost none

Jay Paterno fans would be happy for him if Rutgers hired him. And non-Jay Paterno fans would laugh at Rutgers. Trust me on this one.

It is time for Jay to hit the showers
OH! I am sorry that was Jerry to hit the showers

Jay is a guy looking for a job. Good for him for reaching out, I don't begrudge him looking for an opportunity. I wouldn't want him on the staff, and obviously he wasn't at the top of Urban's list or he he'd be on instead of Tim Beck, but it doesn't hurt to ask if you're in his position.
