Jersey Mike's being acquired for$8 billion

He's still going to be running the company according to an article I read so I wouldn't assume drastic changes.

It's like a deal with the mob with them having a majority stake. Business bad, "F you pay me", O you had a fire?, "F you pay me", Place got hit by lightning, "F you pay me".

Well it depends on what was agreed to and where the leverage was to get the deal done.

They’ll replaces Boar’s Head with Dietz & Watson.
Boar's Head had a major issue with bad meat causing a fatal listeria outbreak. They no longer sell liverwurst, although I don't think Jersey Mike's sells liverwurst subs.

A friend's kid claims to have gotten an E. coli infection from eating Jersey Mike's this past week.

Nice story in the local paper today on Cancro and the franchise:

Is the kid's father an attorney?

No, an electrician! Talked to the mother, and she was confident JM's was the only place he could have picked up E. Coli. Don't think that could be verified as fact. I had mentioned to her that they could be in the money with $8 Billion on the table for JM's today, and she laughed.

Why isn’t it Jersey Pete’s?
If I recall that was the name of the shop he was working in Point Pleasant. The owner wanted to sell. Cancro's HS football coach offered to loan him some money to buy the business while still a very young fellow. He just decided to keep the name.

Yes, that is detailed in the app story posted above. JM's headquarters is on Landmark Place in South Wall, off of Atlantic Ave.

So will jersey Mike’s now be publicly traded ?
Would this be a good stock to buy ?

Rutgers can veto a name change. Here is the contract language.

JM agrees that it shall have no right to change the name of Jersey Mike’s Arena unless all of the following conditions are met: (i) a merger, acquisition, corporate reorganization or other event which results in the permanent elimination of the Jersey Mike’s brand from the marketplace, (ii) the new name of the Arena incorporates the brand name under which JM, or its successor in interest, actively markets JM’s former products or services or a significant portion thereof, and (iii) the new name is approved by Rutgers in writing in its reasonable discretion, such approval not to be unreasonably withheld. In order to change the name of the Arena, JM shall notify Rutgers that it desires to change the name of the Arena at least one hundred and twenty (120)days in advance of the proposed date of the change, and disclose the new name.

sorta related

has anybody tried this? i read they started selling in stores. was wondering if compares to whatever magic hot pepper relish that White House Subs uses in AC. been looking for something similiar.

Jersey mikes has pretty solid subs for a chain. Hopefully Blackstone doesn't cut costs and have it turn into a Subway type place. They better keep the quality intact.

The local hospital has 2 other people who ate Jersey Mike's and have E.Coli. This was passed onto me from the family member of the young man who is now in the hospital.
Is it established that JMs cold cuts are supplied by Boar’s Head?
JM s cold cuts in their case are private labeled so I’m not sure how that would be known.
JM also has a very limited selection of meats and cheeses which is by design (make a few things and make them well). They do not have liverwurst.

IDK- I never said they were supplied by Boar's head- that was other random information on the listeria problem Boar's head had with cold cuts.

Not trying to throw shade at JM's. Like their subs--just was coincidental that someone I knew had a family member get sick eating there, and 2 other people had same issue-coluld simply be local to one shop.

Pretty sure White House uses:

In general.

Most chains do not have great products.

I did not find their subs to be anything worth a must have.

There were much better subs in the Edison/ Woodbridge area at the local shops there
That’s the thing. It’s best amongst chains. Supposedly BX will seek to expand globally.
Cancro stays in place for now so can become even richer than he already is.

That is kind of a DUH..,

We live in the Deli capital of the world.
There is no chain that can compare. But in about 45 states or so- it is all about chains.

I will say this though. For. A fast food chain- JM’s usually takes longer and cost more than getting a local deli sandwich

One of the best Blimpie Style Sandwich Shops in NJ:

OUR HERO on 785 Bergen Ave, Jersey City.
Across from Hudson Catholic HS.

So old school that it doesn’t have a website.
But the sandwich are on point.
