OMG ANYTHING is better than the boring ass predictable low scoring frustrating offense we've been trying to make work, and mostly not making work, for years.

I thought we did not care about what players thought about their coaches? Or that's how it used to work. Has that changed?

No, we don't care what players think about their current coaches. Former player opinions hold a little more weight due to being able to tell you what they are really thinking without repercussions.

I remember it a bit differently, like when Anthony Davis spoke up for Flood, as well as other players.
Vad Lee is still a player at JMU, and perhaps hoping to get drafted.
Turzilli gushed about the "night and day" experience between Rutgers and Kansas.
But whatever.
And no, this is not in defense of Flood. The point is player statements should be given little weight.

Practically no one is in support of Flood anymore. But yes, we only take testimony when it suits our purposes, cause we're Scarletnation and that's what we do.

too many posters happy just to improve without looking at the big picture for the future. of course we will improve over last year , any move gives us that , but is it the right move?

The QB Lee seems very intelligent and well-spoken as well in the article - understands the position well.

The difference is, those guys were talking about Flood as a person, helping them become a man/easy to talk to, etc. This guy is talking about Mehringer as a COACH, Xs and Os, in ADDITION to being a good guy to talk to. That is the key factor, what's he like ON the field.

No one spoke up for Flood in any significant way other than providing some trite compliments. So yes, you really do remember it differently lol.

Lee praising his former OC and describing his time with him in detail because he wants to be drafted is a real reach.

As bad as Flood was, what is going on at KU is even more toxic, so not surprised there.

OK. We will ignore what Darius Hamilton said then. “Like I said, I hope to be back here playing for my coach, Coach Flood. That's the only guy I want to play for."

Again, not defending Flood, just pointing out that people discounted or ignored what players said about their coach. But if it fits your agenda, it's OK.

I put a LOT more stock in what HC Withers had to say about Mehringer. Looking forward to the next couple of years.

Didn't Hamilton also announce after that, that he would be coming back no matter what.

Yes. I have a buddy who's client is Hamilton's mom and she told him she's happy with the new coach and having discipline reestablished in the program. Take that 2nd hand info for what its worth.

QUOTE FROM LEE........You don't need a Braxton Miller to run this offense. But being mobile and being able to move is key."

Vad Lee is a true leader. The whole football program rallied around that guy. Was really upset to see him get a season-ending injury the game vs. the Richmond Ticks.

Here's ESPN's "Big Man on Campus" segment on Vad Lee from earlier in the 2015 season: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=13774129

Sounds like the pro style crowd may even be pleasantly surprised when Mehringer's offense gets executed properly.

"It's a fast, up-tempo offense where he wants to be 50/50 in the pass and run game. I wouldn't say it's a spread, it's just kind of different. His offense still wants to have the demeanor of running down your throat, but it also has a big pass game as well."
