Joe Dooley in the tourney

Lots of Hall fans love Dooley.

And wanted to fire Willard. And loved Gonzo. And wanted to fire PJ.

Congrats on your season, but endorsements (or non-endorsements) from SHU fans feels a bit like we should follow the George Costanza "just do the opposite" mantra.

I know Dooley was on our coaching board when we wanted to get rid of Hill but then lost track of him. I cant take much from his time at that school or whether its legit or not since the other guy built that program.

The thing I would need to know about him is his recruiting. I know he was a guru at one time but if he is not as highly thought of now, I wouldnt really want him. I dont think Hobbs should go down this route at all

I am not writing this with the intent of saying that Dooley should be the next Rutgers coach. I am a season ticket buyer for both Rutgers and FGCU. A couple of things. FGCU would easily defeat this year's Rutgers team, but that does not say much. And this is Dooley's team, not the previous coach's team. FGCU's roster is balanced and his coaches beat the bushes for players. They have at least two or three very talented players. Dooley's team plays an entertaining style and his team will continue to win. They share the ball and everyone can handle the ball and shoot. Not rugged enough to play a Big Ten schedule, but FGCU does a lot of things way better than Rutgers.

I heard FGCU has beautiful facilities.

For an A-Sun school their arena is okay. Because so many other sports use it, FGCU sometimes has to practice off campus.

The campus is right on the beach btw.

UCF may target him. Not a P5 but a step up from A-Sun and the salary would be comparable (plus go farther due to no state income tax) and the Florida HS relationships he has built would come in handy.
