Basketball Jordan Derkack to the Transfer Portal

He showed some improvement but finished the year at 37% from the field. Ironically it is identical to his freshman year and this year he was left wide open all year long. Averaged 1 board 1 assist and got bullied on D.

Not trying to pick on him but unless it’s a reduced bench role he can transfer to keensaw !

That’s fair. I did check his stats. He was 40-70% down the stretch. He had some real stinkers though. I think you’ve gotta project more minutes for his stats next year, so he gets to 2+ steals a game and he’ll have the ball in his hands as a true 1 - not deferential to Harper.

I think with JWill leaving, JMike will be a strong leader for the team and I think that’s going to be his most important value.

Losing Dercack only hurts because we lose out on his brother. He brought nothing to the table and I wish him well
Nope, the brother is potentially overrated. Seen him play live against decent defenders and he plays reckless and takes unnecessary charges trying to bull his way to the basket. Great in a wide open offense but I have my doubts he can translate his game against high major teams that play strong defense.

Peter Kiss(2018) Min 43.4%, At Rim 27-50 54%, Mid 10-26 38.5% 3pt 29-96 30.2%
Conf games 2pt 18-35 51.4%, 3pt 15-53 28.3%

Jordan Derkack Min 40.4%, Rim 32-72 44.4%, Mid 2-8 25%, 3pt 11-44 25% (7-37 18.9%)
Conf games 2pt 14-36 38.9%, 3pt 8-23 34.7% (MichSt 4-7) 4-16 25%

Peter Kiss had better numbers than Derkack. Derkack didn't score consistently at any level of the floor, and was overrated defensively. What would be the point of bring him back?

3 games, 3pt Mich St 4-7, ND 2-5, Ohio St 2-2, other 3-30 10%

As long as he leads from the bench

I’m not at all sad to see him go - I felt he was a big disappointment on D overall.

That said, in fairness to Jordan, you did not provide an accurate data set of information to support the conclusion you made. Jordan attempted more FTs per 40 than anyone on the team, including Dylan. You might be right, however, considering 43% of his points on the season came from the FT line, you’d have to factor FTs into any argument that draws a comparative conclusion about his ability to score since it’s such a big part of his game.

I really liked his hustle. And I blame Pike for not being able to control him more vs. just sit him to send the message (my opinion). But that is nothing new. I really thought perhaps he could be a better/different player after another off season going into his last year. But then again in today's world if he was asking for way more than he was worth based on actual results vs. potential this is what you get. Doesn't matter now anyway.

His style of play/effort did make him easy to route for. When your worst shooter at the rim can only get shots at the rim, and isn't providing anything elsewhere, he isn't helping win games.
