So Mama you are definitely in the fire Donigan side. I know you know soccer really well do you have a top candidate or a top 3 who you would like to replace him?
"Reading comprehension" is your friend. I was simply responding to the post that I quoted. I'm well aware of The Bilikens history, thanks, Mama. Also, if you read my post above that (in response to "ag67"), I CLEARLY note that "chemistry" is the single biggest issue in the program, and that it is something, good or bad, which always is the HC's shoulders.Originally posted by MamaRU:
From 1959-2000, St Louis made the NCAA tournament 37 out of 40 years so I'm not sure what Donigan's record at St Louis means.
What did you think I meant? LOLOriginally posted by AreYouNUTS:
Relax guys...shit happens...it's a message board, not the board room at RU, geeze! e5fdny you should know better my friend!Originally posted by e5fdny:
It might seem that way now...Originally posted by snowboarder:
Soccer is so unimportant at RU that even in a message board thread about soccer the conversation turns to football.
Yeah..Peter Vermes is 47 years old LOLOriginally posted by AdamsGarden:
I hope you realize that the players you listed below - all greats from NJ and at RU - are now all old enough to have kids that are college graduates?
1. The season just ended.Originally posted by ag67:
I almost never call for coach's heads, but I admit I am disappointed that Hermann has not let him go yet. This is her first chance to be decisive in this area, and I don't see it happening. I have also been a big supporter of Hermann, but her silence is deafening here.
"silence is deafening"?? This is an Olympic Sport coach making under $150K a year, not the football or basketball coach, and the season JUST ended. Com'on ag....and the funny thing is, coming from you, a guy who wants another HC around for the next 20 years regardless of what his results are!Originally posted by ag67:

* Agree. And not just for Soccer but for Athletics overall.Originally posted by AdamsGarden:
* Patience in the process. She likely did not schedule a evaluation for the week the season ended; probably set it for either next week or after the NCAA's are over. We get to be knee-jerk. She does not. She'll likely speak with the players in addtion to whomever oversees soccer in her department. That will take some time to play out.
Either way, if we keep him or fire him his replacement won't occur until after the NCAA's, as all of the people we should be looking at are likely/ hopefully coaching through early December.
Of course, there is a certain RU alumnus who is coaching in KC and has an open schedule.....maybe he wants to head back to the Banks??!?!?!
I was mulling it over last night, and felt I was a little too hasty - since I don't know what is going on behind the scenes. If she is interviewing players, staff, and other people close to the situation, then she is doing her job the way she should be.Originally posted by AreYouNUTS:

...okay, I'm having a LITTLE bit of fun with you there!
Listen, Danny's a grown man, and a WINNER of the variety I've known only one other person in my life to be (my cousin, who won The Hermann Trophy way back...), so if RU should choose to move on at this time I'm quite sure he'll handle it very well and completely understand. I, too, would understand and accept any move made after 5 seasons.Originally posted by ag67:

Concerning that other coach, you are exaggerating. I would be happy with a 10 year guaranteed contract, but I think 20 years is taking a little too big a chance.
I know Donnigan is your friend. I thought he was a great hire and was rooting for him to get the job done. However it looks like the program is in free-fall, so I think something has to be done. I can't imagine he is not expecting to be let go. A guy with his background will land on his feet somewhere. I hope he gets another chance to coach, if that is what he wants. His body language seemed to say he was not enjoying himself, so maybe he is looking to move to something like administration.
Gee, I can: he probably has another season on his contract (along with his staff) and we have no money to pay for it PLUS a new, bigger one, this year, UNLESS somebody (see: a donor with big $$$, who supports men's soccer) steps up and specifically says "I've got big $$$$, I want DD gone now, let's get it done." I'll try to find out.Originally posted by ag67:
I can't imagine what Hermann's reasons could be for sticking with him. If this year's season was a train-wreck, I can't even imagine what next season will be like. Will there be 100 fans in the stadium for each game?
This is coming from a guy who is always accused of sticking with coaches too long.
@Tango Two I have to give you credit for the find of the year.
DD sticks around another year & it'll take 5+ years to rebuild just back to mediocrity after next season. Brutal

So should we assume DD is staying? Thought we would have heard something by now if that was not the case.
IMO it would be very unfortunate if DD stayed. Having gone to a couple of games, have to say that our product hardly resembled a well coached soccer team, more like a disorganized mish mash. Players' body language was telling as well.
If he's not fired by 12/31/17, then it's clear that we don't care about men's soccer. I hated the hire from the moment it was announced.Three years later and he's still here
Amazing...
