Just a good tweet.

Tough to talk about right now without knowing what the roster looks like. If everyone is back and we just add the two recruits I see us winning 12-13 games. Gettys is a huge loss. He helped us so much in non conference games. Combine that with a more difficult schedule is trouble. I am still hoping the key guys all come back and we find a way to add two impact players.

Say Corey leaves and we can't find another impact guard which is very possible. Mensah becomes our starting PG. we would win 7-8 games in that scenario. Maybe less

If Corey leaves all bets are off, but I have not seen anything that would say it is very possible.

At the last Court Club meeting, someone asked Coach about a replacement for Gettys next year and he didn't guarantee anything but it seemed pretty clear to me that he sees it as an immediate need to bring in a reinforcement up front for 2017-2018. You can debate how much Baker and Mensah will provide but they are the guard reinforcements. The grad transfer loophole is a relatively new one but one that is being exploited more and more. If I had a choice of a player of equal ability I might lean on a juco if for no other reason than to balance out the classes a bit.

This is the BIGGEST reason why RU never even had a decent season over the last 10 years. If you don't have exceptional talent, then your next best chance is to have a well glued senior led team or a group of upperclassment. RU hasn't had that and because of that I'm even more excited for Nigel, Corey, Mike Williams, etc. to have another year TOGETHER with significant experience under all their belts!

Gettys was a 4 and 4 guy and UNC Wilmington. You don't think Pikiell had a ton to do with that kids development?

I'd be shocked if Coach P goes after a grad transfer. Doorson (even understanding his limited ability to work this off season), Diallo and Sa will be manning the "5" next year.

Jay Young specifically definitely did. But a 4 and 4 guy was turned into a 7 and 5 guy when he learned and was taught to foul less, and played more.

Those kinds of kids are out there. Pikiell will probably find one.

7 foot graduate transfers that are servicable are not easy to get. We got VERY lucky with Gettys. Assuming Pikiell can find another is silly. It comes down to luck if there any of these types in the market and another team looking for one.

Past 10 years 5th year graduate transfers...

It does not have to be a grad transfer. A juco, or transfer from another school will work as well.

Higgins, I just want to say that I really enjoy reading your posts. (I didn't read all of this one and it's funny that it went on so long from your innocent beginning). You obviously know basketball and I assume you are or were a coach or at least a player. Thanks.

We are lucky to have passionate fans who love the RAC, and value Rutgers University.

Myself, I was an athletic kid but could not hit the rim unless I was a foot under it. I could rebound, scrap, drive and play defense. A cool moment I had was beating my friend's team at the local courts who eventually went on to playing D1basketball at UMBC. Basketball courts will always be a sacred place in my life. They kept me out of trouble, and helped me stay healthy. Now, I am discovering how to shoot, and it has been a lot of fun. Hey, that kid who won 100$ two years by hitting foul shots at halftime was me! With absolutely no arc, but a tucked in elbow and follow through, I was able to hit 4/6. It was ugly, and profitable. A great RAC memory. The nerves are high with 5000 eyes on you. Sheesh.

Get to the game tonight if you can! I look forward to hearing the RAC ROAR. It's a good time to be a fan. The tides are turning on the BANKS.

On talk radio specifically channel 84 XM college station I have heard on more than one occasion that the BIG is down this year. It this is true it may mean a worse season next year. We play tough in every game but the bottom line is wins and losses. Coaxh Pike needs to get better players and soon because soon the being in games will not be enough. He has to hit a home run on the trail next year no ifs ands or butts. IMO. As far as the BIG being down lets see how many teams end up in the sweet 16.

I know popular sentiment is the B1G is down and that might be correct. But an Indiana team with two possible NBA players is 6-10 and Penn State, with a really nice frosh class and a good player in Garner is also 6-10 (which isn't that bad a record). Fran has done a terrific job with Iowa.

You are right on with this line: "As far as the BIG being down lets see how many teams end up in the sweet 16."

If anyone is counting on Doorson to give significant minutes of quality next year they are going to be in for a rude awakening. I do not expect Diallo to be here. Priority #1 is signing a center like Gettys to come in, its not going to be easy to make up for his production, we might get slaughtered in the paint next year

Bac. Odds of success there are VERY low. Think Frank Russell.

Anyone know the story with Gettys? Did CJ want out OR did UNCW push him out. UNCW having a good year.

$ sign goes in front of the number. Like, $100.

Carry on.

Remember, Gettys was a five and five player coming in on 15 minutes a game. Tell me other teams that were going after him. That is our staff. They will sniff it out.

The staff will not allow us getting slaughtered next year. There will be a replacement coming in.

CJ was never used seriously by UNCW. They made the tournament, but got knocked out first game. He was a 5 and 5 player, who fouled quite a bit. 15 minutes a game, our staff, and CJ saw he could be used more.

He must have been the only center that had 60 open rolls last year, but not one pass to him. It was probably mutual, but more so Gettys wanting to leave.
