Wasn't he the head coach at GW when Coach P was there? Sounds like a great hire to me!!
I like brandin too, but one could argue hobbs has a much better resume. UCONN tree w/ 2 national championships, 10yr head coach at GW with 3 NCAA appearances, a winning record and A-10 coach of the year.solid hire though I am disappointed to not land Brandin

Coaching GW is a tough job--Maryland and Georgetown are right there, and during my nearly 40 years in the DC-Md area, GW was always a poor third to those two programs. Plus other schools like to grab players from Md and DC. Most coaches at GW relied heavily on foreign players, who would vanish after a year or two. Some pretty good rentals from Russia, Ukraine, etc. Hobbs did OK there, and is a good hire. If nothing else, he might have some good international connections.

Carino threw some shade on Twitter saying that the program under Hobbs at GW was built on academic risks and JUCOs to the best of his recollection
Considering this is Pikiells program and won't be Hobbs'..that shouldn't be concerning.
As long as he's a good recruiter, good coach, has ties...sign me up.
Need a assistant coach that can coach the big men..The three hires so far are all former guards in college.I hope Marshall is still a option but doubt that is the case with Hobbs hired as associate head coach.
Agreed We need Marshall or another big man coach.Need a assistant coach that can coach the big men..The three hires so far are all former guards in college.I hope Marshall is still a option but doubt that is the case with Hobbs hired as associate head coach.
