Karl Hobbs to RU

Hiring Karl Hobbs may increase the likelihood that Shoes remains. You now have two high level coaches in HC Pikiell , former HC Hobbs and another guy that worked for Pikiell for the last 7 years as an assistant coach. You can now hire a coach to recruit and .maybe that guy is Shoes, the recruiting shark.

Quite frankly I'd rather have Donyell Marshall than Shoes. We really need someone to coach our bigs. Yes I know coaches can coach
all positions but it'd be nice to have someone who actually played the position.
Marshall was an All-American at UConn and played the in the NBA.

Thought this was interesting as well since Ash wants younger types so he doesn't have to battle the established coach's "when I was a head coach we used to..."

Ash's biggest thing is "alignment"... and it's hard to argue that Pikiell doesn't value the same thing, given his hires so far. (Am I missing any?)

This is more than alignment, this is an experienced driver who has won races before who knows the in and outs of the local speedways. Experience is wonderful.

Central Conn went with a big name coach. Dominoes starting to fall. Young probably gets the bump to HC at Stony Brook. I'm going to guess Kevin Freeman gets a bump to full assistant at Uconn or maybe joins Marshall. Pikiell probably working on Brandin Knight, maybe assistant if AD Hobbs can get some more money for his spot...maybe using money from O'Koren's Advisor position.

I would have loved to get him, but, Marshall was always tricky....he never needed to take a spot for money....he has plenty.

For awhile it was a draw between him and Leitao about who would have the better resume and succeed Calhoun at UCONN. And then both got fired and so it became a moot point.

Stuff like that happens it got away from him at GW. I don't think he is there for great recruiting. He is there to be a solid right hand person for Pikiell.

as some alluded earlier in the thread, one could actually say he has a better resume. Do you know what happened at GW to cause the slide? He went to 2 NCAA tourneys and then fell of the map

Everyone is there to recruit that wasn't my point. His acumen is not recruiting however, that wasn't what Ollie had him doing as his main role on the staff.
