He got passed over at Pitt, and was not in line for any of the mid major jobs that were out this year. Maybe a move back home, a bump in pay, and the chance to turn the program here around (in the tristate) will set him up for a HC job sooner. It's impossible to ask this question with appearing negative, but can someone postulate or speculate why he would leave Pitt for a lateral position at RU? Have we found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?
It is another excellent hire for basketball. This was an excellent job of "recruiting" by RU. Knight had other options. RU folks convinced him this was a positive career move for him and a position that would enable him to work in a cohesive manner with other good people. The staff, as individuals, is very good. What is even better is that the staff is committed to working for the good of the program as opposed to working for their individual interests. That is a real positive and frequently is not the situation when you have a staff of very strong people. A very good few months for our program.
I'm a little bit behind on the overall news here. Does this mean we have Hobbs, Young, Knight, and Vetrone? Is Vetrone signed on?
Bdodger2 - you are a straight shooter and never sugar coat anything. so this post makes me very very very happy.
great to hear - thanks for sharing.
25 years will do that to some.I sure hope that those that were in a panic that this was not moving as fast as they wished can now stop being such Debbie Downers. A few guys were relentless on why this wasn't announced yet. Many were constantly negative. We need positive fans.
So, if my memory is working, seems that Knight stiffed RU and went to Pitt. I remember all the fans were required to BOO LOUDLY, whenever he touched the ball, a tradition joyfully upheld throughout his career.
Is all forgiven, or am I obligated to BOO when he is introduced?
