Lets go RU grapplers!! Pin down dem Gophers!!

some thoughts..
125 McCabe Not his best match by far.. But wrestling hard the entire 7 minutes gets the W...
133 Typical Giraldo match...wish he would open up a lil more early..
141 Ashnault... Easily his worst match in an RU uniform...Not the end of the world, and if anyone is gonna come back even harder than this it will be Ash...hopefully he uses this to fuel him the rest of the year...
149 Dippery...did his job this match which was not get majored...needs to get stronger to stay at 149
157 Not having Lewis killed here..But the key to B1G top tier teams is quality depth...Van Brill just isn't ready yet to provide that...good job in 3rd period keeping match to 3pt
165 Perrotti is tough to watch...Very sloppy at times and loves to go for big moves...But able to pull out a W without his A game
174 Bakuckas... upperclassman now needs to find a way to win a match like this...he wrestles tough and gives great effort...But 4th year in program in a toss-up match..gotta win these now
184 Gravina...Man can he punish people with his physicality...Gets after it and hopefully he can keep that shoulder healthy...
197 Messner totally outclassed...saved a team pt. by not going to his back...maybe Hrymack wrestles closer? But again...quality depth is the issue..
285 Smith...Finally!! Pulls out a W against a better opponent!!! Not pretty....but most 285lb matches aren't!! Hopefully he can build off this...

overall hard fought match...Kudos to Minny for wanting it more....yeah it sucks to lose a winnable duel...But definitely not the end of the world....gotta shake it off and get ready for a another tough match fri. night vs Whisky

I think Wisconsin is next.

WNG, all this craziness going on, on the board, and the match and the best you got for us is correcting someone on who our next match is against? I expect more from you. Whats up with Lewis? Seems like he didn't make the trip (going off his twitter posts).

agree with Jerzey Devil's assessment. some good and some bad matches. unfortunately 2 starters out and not enough depth plus our Ashnault laying an egg equals Minnesota squeaking by. Wisconsin is definitely winnable if everyone is healthy. hope everyone heals up and uses the week to prepare properly. time to bounce back like they did after Iowa.

Nice summary ! Sometimes I think we take the Duals too seriously, lol. My wife says to me a while ago: 'why the long face' , I say RU Wrestlers lost one they should have won, and Anthony Ashnault didn't look good at all", she say's 'Seriously? Who's that? And Why do you care so much about a wrestling match, I thought you only cared about RU football' ? LOL!! Damn, I didn't even bother to explain. Funny thing is, my wife was a terrific HS athlete, still holds the record for points scored at her HS for BB, and All State in BB and Softball. But I'm the jerk who cares about sports, especially RU sports ! LOL

Love Gravina. Huge upside also. Hopefully his shoulder can hold up. Can really surprise people. has lightweight skill set bc he started very light in HS. I just worry it can hold up in the grind of a tournament. One match I think he can with stand but worried about consecutive matches.

Dippery is a disappointment Versus his HS credentials but so are lots of college wrestlers.
He definitely needs to get stronger and better on his feet.

Perrotti frustrating but really that Match was not that close. Minn got some help from ref and AP rode that guy for almost 4 minutes.

Bakuckas needs to find a way to win the close ones. Has never been able to do that.

Hoping Lewis and Hrymak are ok.

Good win by Billy.

Giraldo scares me with the trend of stalling late in 3rd periods. Has a habit of doing it. Hope it does not come back to bite him.

Sorry I disappointed you as our team disappointed me as well today. However, with Lewis and Haden out we may have trouble on the road with most Big Ten opponents, including Wisky. I did not know both were out.

No but I will get it. Look, wrestling in the Big Ten is like playing football in the SEC or maybe worse. You are not going unscathed as it is a grind. We stumbled today as it was not our best team effort. We had some good individual wins and some disappointing losses. AA will be fine. Don't jump ship yet.

would we have heard of her if i'm not being to nosy....I remember Jennifer Apicella from Belleville my hometown and i always like WBB...esp Sue Wicks..

Probably not, she played a small catholic Montclair Immaculate, although she said both boys and girls sports were decent back then. Some of her classmantes were Lou Raccioppe now the Football coach at Verona, and John Finnegan who just stepped down at Seton Hall Prep.
Her maiden name is/was Sue Miller.
