Load Up On USC fellas...Rose Bowl SUSPENSIONS for PSU

Both were starters. Blacknall is a legit deep ball threat. I agree with you that Bowen is probably the bigger loss.

My guess is that it was just short of murder. Probably something like asking a professor to change a grade, drugs or maybe even smacking a woman around.

[winking]

Or like in Oklahoma where knocking out a woman cold is covered up for over 2 years.

LOL, Penn St fans posting the suspensions are not about academics, but can't say what they are about. No one knows, but Nits are acting like they know because their academic All Americans never mess up and get suspended for academic reasons.
Also if they did: the Nit HC would be upfront about it [roll][roll]
Guess Penn St doesn't suspend players for messing up academically because of missing classes are not for violating team rules at Penn St.

Probably nothing much to the suspensions and academics might be ruled out, but Penn St isn't know as a football program that will admit anything was wrong unless forced to and even then only give the minimum amount of information so they can hide as much as they can about the issue

Yes he was smart to let lesser talented and stupid kids tarnish his awful reputation. Brilliant ;)
The Floodies are alive and welll... And clueless as always
I think he tarnished his reputation not the kids.

He was referring to your comment about Wiscy's secondary. You might want to take a look at my response to you, Chip, really bad call on your part.
Fellas we can disagree with each other but there is no need to insult one another. We all want the same thing a winning program on the Banks.

If it was academics not meeting NCAA academic standards they would not have been allowed to travel with the team. Since they are on the trip unless it was a penn state standard above the NCAA requirement it most likely isn't academic related. Most likely it something minor and we will probably never know.

Rose Bowl is a lose, lose for me..

- PSU loses.. well, they were in the Rose Bowl.. recruiting in NJ still gets boost.. we lose
- PSU wins.. its just worse.. but at least they will have Franklin for a long long time... and his act has to get old

Actually, one of the BWI staff said it wasn't academic related. Oh, and when Sickels was suspended for the OSU game Franklin came right out and said it was because he missed a class.

But hey, whatever fits your narrative.

Since it is Pedd State that we're talking about here, you may be right, it could very well have something to do with a "minor".

Thank you for that permission, guess it was something that Franklin won't talk about.
Missing a class is a good way to make it look like Franklin is doubling down to make sure his Nits stay academically eligible.
But saying missed a class when the reports were "missed some classes" during the bye week, is not being completely truthful, in my opinion.
Also I got the impression from your saying "Sickels was suspended for the OSU game" it was for the whole game and not being benched for the first half of Penn State's game against Ohio State then put in the second half of that game.
But you didn't say the whole game just suspended for the OSU game, unlike your claiming he missed one class that caused the suspension when it was more than that.

By the way, the BWI staff, all or one, saying it's not academically related doesn't hold much water as far as I'm concerned. That site won't admit many things if it makes PSU FB look bad, this might be another example of them being dishonest or what they say could be true. Just don't expect me to take BWI as a creditable source.
And the way you put Sickels' suspension makes me believe there might be times you won't tell the whole story either , in order to prove a point.

If it was academic the players likely wouldn't have made the trip to California. Rumor is they were caught doing something young people in college are known to indulge in from time to time.

Drugs ?????????????? [roll]
I take it you mean getting drunk or just underage drinking was the reason they were punished. I can't claim what caused suspensions and that's a good as reason as any and why they could make the trip.

Basically. From what I heard its nothing that doesn't happen in thousands of dorms across the country, unfortunately for them everyone has a camera phone and well if rumors (via a member of the teams support staff) made it to me you can bet they made it to the staff...

The BWI staff is Nate and Ryan and both are straight shooters. One of them was the one who said it and I have never known them to blatantly lie. If anything, they often say something by saying nothing and simply don't respond, post or comment.

When I Googled Sickels suspension it said he missed a class. I didn't research it further. Honestly didn't know what it was from but that it was classroom related. That's on me for not doing more research.

In regards to his suspension, that is on me as well. IIRC he had 13 tackles and was a beast in that game. Figured you would know that but that would be under the assumption you watched the game. Maybe you didn't as you're not a PSU fan. Again, that's on me.

TBH, I don't really care what you think of Sickels, Bowen, Blacknall or Franklin. Bowen and Blacknall aren't playing and that's all that matters to me. If it is academic related then so be it. Don't know why I would try to fudge it. Didn't know both were All-Big Academic but seems pretty silly to say someone who achieves that then doesn't make grades.

You're generally pretty reasonable but in this instance you seem to be bent for some reason.

I made a joke about Murder not being a violation of team rules: "you implying : Murder isn't a Violation of team rules and not subject to disciplinary action"
in reply to your : "I doubt that will ever come out. Violation of team rules."
because I seen a post that had a double murder would only get a 1st quarter suspension at Penn St.
The conversation we had took off from there after your reply to that.
But I was pressing for an answer and excuses of academics not being reason but no one saying that had proof kept me pushing for why and expecting proof instead of speculation. A not sure but think it wasn't academically related would have been a better defence than the way you Nits put reason for suspension .
You know BWI isn't a trusted source here and no matter what you think about some of the staff there being straight shooters, I still don't trust what comes from there and wouldn't be surprised if others here felt the same way

I try not to watch any school I don't like unless their playing RU or a program I really like, If the Nits play a school I don't care about one way or another I don't watch the game because I don't want to watch any game just to root for a team to lose.
So I don't follow Penn St and despite being one of the top programs in the B1G, OSU is a program I really don't care if they win or lose and the PSU-OSU game held no interest for me because I just would have watched it to see Penn St lose not root for Buckeyes.
As for academic related being out of question, Sikels suspension for OSU game was for missing classes and, to me, that's academically related and he played that game, so these suspensions could be for cutting class and still remain eligible to travel.

Seems to me a low-level infraction would be revealed, while a more severe issue would get a generic reply like this

Saeed's close friend cuts my hair at a local barbershop, and every year hes like watch hes gonna be the number 1 n be in the NFL. I keep telling him hes good but hes stuck behind so many guys. never gives up with it tho

James Franklin gives little to no information regarding injuries or other off-field issues, whether major or minor. Given that both Blacknall and Bowen remained with the team in California, and weren't sent home (or not on the plane out there to begin with), I'm assuming this is something minor such as a missed curfew, drinking/smoking, etc. That doesn't mean it IS minor, but that's the sense I get. Regardless, whether it's this, suspending Sickels for the first half of the OSU game, etc., I'm glad Franklin holds the guys accountable for their actions in the classroom and in the community. This can be a learning experience for the entire team.

I'm not sure his ceiling is that of a go-to guy in the NFL, but his size and athleticism definitely projects to the next level.

Pretty much agree. He started catching the ball this year. He's definitely gotten better.

There's still a chance Chris Godwin decides to leave for the NFL. There's as much young talent at the WR position as any on the PSU roster, but that would open the door further for Blacknall to potentially have a much bigger season statistically in 2017.
