Marques Ford is a goner I think.

That's what you get when your new coach hasn't even talked to you one on one. Coach is too busy trying to get another victory for OSU while our players don't even have a chance to talk to him. No wonder players wold leave.

Great hire HOBBS! Schiano is out there any you hire a guy who has no HC experience, no NJ ties, no RU ties, hires a staff that has not had any experience at their new positions. What a trainwreck.

This post alone makes me like Head Coach Chris Ash even more.

I know people are going to read me the riot act for posting this but, everyone is saying that we'll be fine don't worry nothing to see here. Every loss is being dismiss as he was a project, he was destined to decommit, he didn't want to be here anyway or onto the next. I must say the attrition rate with decommits and now the transfer is becoming a little worrisome. I'm hoping we get some good news on the recruiting front at some point, but with only a month left to go once Ash and the staff arrives fulltime I'm concerned we won't get many new commits.

I fear a bit more bad news before any good..... one thing not considered by fans here yet is an early entry to the NFL, even if ill-advised... for every recruit rethinking their commit, there could be a seasoned player figuring why not pull the trigger now

This HC that Rutgers hired is very well connected in the coaching network and will bring in a very talented coaching staff. Ash has very good pedigree. He is way more experienced than Schiano was when Rutgers hired Coach Schiano. That is why he is being paid the salary that he commands. In Rutgers he sees a diamond in the rough, the perfect job to turn out that diamond. For what it is worth I too wish he would be on site once and for all, January 2nd seems so far away.

Although they would be passing up the opportunity to play for a real coach.

what we may have are a couple of seniors to be that feel a bit confused as to what will happen, a bit abandoned, and pushed to declare for
the NFL by outsiders..... then you get a player leaving before he is truly ready because there was not enough support and guidance
from within our program at the time of decision.

we have seen players leave early due to bad advice... not any more at RU than other programs

Only one player on this current team, that will be looked at by the NFL with any favor. The rest are kidding themselves.

I posted this before:

Well, the coach that recruited him is still on the staff. So that tells you all you need to know, he was just homesick or his heart was just not into football.

It happens. SEC schools don't just drop 4 stars like that, they saw something and we took a chance since 4 stars were so rare under Flood. It didn't work out.

It happens.

I suspect this will be the last we hear of Marques Ford. Some kids simply don't have the heart, head for full time college football. You have to LOVE football to be successful at this type of endeavor. Not a knock on him. It's just not for everyone. Better to cut the dead weight now.

or you know nothing about him, but calling him dead weight, saying he doesn't have the heart or the head, doesn't love the game. basically you are making things up.

"not a knock on him" lmao this is your version of "with all due respect.... here's something disrespectful"

Ford will not be the only one. Expect more. Once Coach Ash sees what he has first hand and begins to make it clear where people are in the pecking order, you will see others decide to move on. Tough situation to be in for the players, but it is real life.

Not making anything up. How often to "transfer kids" work out. It's rare. It's not the program, it's the kid. Of course I could be wrong in this particular case. Time will tell.

Sounds like buyers remorse
Didn't Ford want to go to Tennessee but they pulled their offer and RU was second on his go to list.
Sounds like he picked RU on the rebound and found Rutgers not what he expected.
That's a shame because other major P-5 programs were interested in him after Tennessee pulled their offer to him because they gave more offers than the number of scholarships they could give.
Now he has 3 years eligibility after he sits next season, unless he drops down a level and then will be immediately eligible and have 4 years of eligibility

Exactly. The same sorta thing happened when Schiano replaced Shea and when Shea replaced Graber and also when Graber replaced Anderson. It happens more often than not when there's a coaching change...especially when the whole staff is being replaced.

So when Rettig transferred here your first thought was "what a bust, guess he just doesn't love football enough and doesn't have what it take"? BS

I actually think the only valid exception to this is when there is a coaching change. Especially when the offense is changing, that is one instance where not only is it expected, but for many kids, it makes a lot of sense to change programs.

And why is that? We've heard nothing but bad news since he was hired with no commitments as of yet. Maybe The Tie would have been the better choice.

Because firstly, people are kidding themselves if they don't think an entirely new head coaching staff will result in multiple decommitments, for starters. Secondly, Coach Ash and the staff he assembles has next season and the 2017 recruiting class to really begin to prove themselves; to make predictions based on what has happened to date or speculate that Al Golden would have done better so far is a silly waste of time. Finally, the fact that Ash is remaining at Ohio State to coach at a major bowl game versus Notre Dame instead of spending 100% of his time at Rutgers, which is the only remotely close to legitimate criticism levied by some to date, is in my opinion washed out by the fact that it's a dead period for in-person recruiting (and youd better believe that he has his phone and laptop ready to contact them remotely), as well as my second stated reason.

My post was more so referring to the ironic criticism levied by the previous poster, who was a staunch defender and excuse-maker of Floods incredible ineptitude until the bitter end, now going on the offensive against our brand-new head coach..

Is your expectation that the RU football mess will have been fixed in a 3 week period? Are you looking at the news ticker and waiting for RU good news by the minute?

Decommits and transfers are not necessarily bad news. Coaches watch tape...they want players that fit what they want to do. None of us know the story with Ford. Maybe he was homesick....maybe Ash is distracted.....or maybe just maybe Ash saw something in the film or otherwise that made the guy expendable in his eyes.

In not so many words, yes. I've learned not to get excited about transfers. What exactly has Rettig done to change my mind?

I'm not attacking any player personally. There is a HUGE difference between being a high school fb player and being a college fb player. Some kids don't understand the elite level of commitment and sacrifice until they're waist deep. It's not for everyone. No hard feelings. Better for everyone to cut ties and move on.

Well, the rumors were true here, I hope he has made a good decision for himself
"with any favor" Longa should stay for his senior year. But, I will say this forgot about our left tackle, he should be a middle round project for the NFL. Still think that there really is only one player that I can see contributing(with any favor), to an NFL team from our roster.

Yeah, now that you mention it I DID hear a rumor that you have syphilis. Thanks for the reminder.
We are sorry for the rude response, Butler Pitt. We have some very immature fans, regardless of their claim to fame.
Sorry, but I have not heard anything resembling that rumor. It would not make any sense, if he actually left here because he "wanted to be closer to home."

Hi Knights...it's ok I don't take any of this that serious and we have our share as well. Thanks for the response, I'm pretty sure there isn't anything to the rumor either.

Happy Holidays!

oh shut up. He wasn't staying regardless. Like Greg would have made a difference.

We hired our previous coach simply to save a recruiting class and we all saw how that played out. So why are people freaking out now? Wouldn't you prefer a great long game to short term success?

I'd much rather have a guy with a vision and believe that 2-3 years from now we will be much better off than if we scrambled to find someone able to grab a couple of recruits to please the fanbase.
