Many years ago Duke was playing a game in MSG and lost. Some guy from Brooklyn calls and lambastes the Duke coach (I can’t spell his name) and says Duke should have won if not for its coach. He forgot the coach’s winning percentage, national Final Fours, NBA players....

Perhaps Steve should have employed a different strategy, perhaps not. But he is the guy who brought us to the point where we will be next year. He has recruited well, made the most out of a roster of under sought after players, and most importantly, has improved the skill set of almost every player on the roster. Eugene, Caleb, Harper, Johnson, Mathis. They all have gotten better and will be the nucleus going forward. Pike gets the credit. Let us not forget this.

True...but for this one game he stunk up the place.

There are no perfect coaches. Take the bad with the good and hope you have a guy who is humble enough to evolve. Of course, it's included with the quality of the coach that you need to be the kind of guy good players want to play for and good assistants want to work for.
