Mike Gesicki calls himself Gronk Jr (link)

Here's hoping TTFP has no better a record than Arizona did during the Gronk years (21-17). They've already gone (7-6), so that'd leave 14-11 over the next two seasons.

If 10 catches gets you that type of article, imagine what 30 catches gets you the next summer...!!

I have nothing against Gesicki but I hope Blacknall is a total bust and rides the pine. He's a first class flake.

Blacknall had 71 yards and a TD in the spring game. He's going to be playing a lot this year

Your old friend Saquon Barkley looks ready to go as well

Barkley (6 feet, 217 pounds) has displayed both strength and speed, Galt said. The running back bench-pressed 315 pounds six times and tested as one of the fastest freshmen, running the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds

Snorweah proved on the field he is better than Barkley. Not worried.
I am curious how he did that? Apparently college coaches really disagree with you since Rutgers was the only one to offer him and Barkley had offers from all over.

I was quite bummed when Gesicki signed with Pedd State and not RU. Seems like a good kid. Not sure why that puff piece is posted her. Let's move on.

I'm sorry but this is such a dumb debate.

'Well our freshman who we haven't seen play a game is better than your freshman who you have haven't seen play a game!'

'NO HE'S NOT!'

'OUR FRESHMAN IS WAAAY BETTER'

'NO WAY!'

Yeah, this.

Stars/expectations/offers/HS performance/etc are fairly good predictors in a general sense over a large number of players (i.e. 4* players with long offer sheets will do better on average than 3* players with short offer sheets) - but less so when talking about individuals (i.e. this player has 4* and a long offer sheet, therefore he will be better in college than this other player with 3* and a short offer sheet). Let's see how they perform on the field.

Well, with James, Martin, Hicks, Goodwin, and Peoples ahead of him I doubt you'll see Snorweah on the field anytime soon.

Gesicki is definitely a player and wish Rutgers were able to keep him in state. If I remember correctly, he would've had a GW TD last year against us if it wasn't for that holding call. Hopefully we'll contain him this year

Sounds like he will be coming back to NJ if he graduates and doesn't make the NFL. Hope he interviews with a couple of Rutgers grads or he can go back as a lifeguard.

Only Rutgers fans see glass as half empty.:(

See dominik bragalone- not one D1 offer, just google him.

I agree 100%.....just trying to answer Nut's question. I was gonna mention Bragalone, but that horse has been beaten to death.

I have seen Snorweah play since he was in 8th grade and he will be a fine recruit and represent RU well. But your statement is laughable at this point. Maybe the future will prove different, but right now any coach who selected Snorweah over Barkley would probably be fired before too long. Barkley is a bigger version of Snorweah who is also better in the passing game at this point. Barkley is really, really good - very good all around back.

Snorweah put up mind boggling numbers. Barkley is bigger but Snorweah is faster, easily.

At this point I'm not going to argue any more because it will be taken as a slight on Charles Snorweah and he is a fine recruit, but you have no idea what you are talking about. None.

Sorry, but you are not remembering correctly, it was Pedd State TE Jesse James, and the TD was called back as NJ 4-star bust Angelo Mangiro had a bear hug on Darius Hamilton.

Interesting to read here about Gesicki's "great" combination of size and speed. Pedd Supporters last year kept talking about what an athletic freak Jesse James was, and their were claims that at 6'7" 270 he was running 4.5. Turned out that there was some hyperbole there by the PSU gang, and his 40 time was quite a bit higher when tested by the pro teams. The great Jesse James wound up being drafted behind RU's Tyler Kroft.

Talk about ironic. Mangiro and Hamilton both named yet Mangrio (who was a 3* BTW) is listed as the bust.

You guys are great.

This and other Nit related threads is proof that RU & PSU are on the way to a great rivalry
But before I claim it is a great rivalry, the games must be competitive enough for a Penn St -Rutgers match-up be considered
like the games Pitt played against West Virgina were.
Both schools fans are ready, but it will take a couple of years to make it one and one side can't dominate the other every year.

The RU-PSU game just might become one of the better rivalry games in the BIG .
For anyone thinking there are too many Penn St related threads, rivalries do tend to make a school's message board ( like Scarlet Nation) have a lot of threads that talk about the school considered a rival.
Looks like the BWI members that come here feel Penn St finally has a conference member they might be able to call a rival.

As for whatshisname, f-em no matter what he's going to be called. [winking]

Well, he and Mango were both B1G HM yet one was a T10 player in the country and the other a 3*.

Neither is a bust but calling Mangiro one was pretty funny.

Also pretty fun is his take on PSU fan's view of Jesse James as the greatest thing since sliced bread and that he would be taken high in the draft. Me thinks he did not have a statistically significant sample size there.

He can call himself anything he wants...I call him Sh%# on a stick.

F' him and all who snub RU.

Wish him nothing but bad luck when playing Rutgers (no injuries...just nothing to celebrate).

Darius Hamilton was named to many pre-season 2nd team all-BIG teams while Mangiro as a 4th year player last year "anchored" probably the worst oline in the B1G, and this year he may lose his job to someone named Wendy (which in effect would make him an Angela).

Pennlive and the writers on the Lions Den/DWI board were constantly referring to Jesse James as a freak of nature.

Is that supposed to be impressive for a 5* T10 guy? An appearance on a B1G 2nd team?

In regards to Mangiro, you're now just making stuff up. If he doesn't start at C because of either Laurent or Reihner it would be fantastic. That would mean they are good enough to play the position and he could go back to his natural position of G and Gaia or Mahon could be moved to a backup role. There isn't one Penn State fan who wouldn't be ecstatic to see this scenario.

In all honesty, you have have no idea what you're talking about.

EDIT: BTW, I remember seeing PJ James Heisman talk on this exact board last year. Then he got stuffed by Howard and Penn State. I guess fans from all teams get overzealous about players from time to time.

I have no idea what I'm talking about, LOL. Next thing we know you'll claim that Hackenberg being sacked 42 times last year was the sign of a great offensive line! Perhaps you'll claim that Donovan Smith was the problem, but the fact was that he was the only B1G caliber olineman PSU had last year (except when Miles D was healthy, then it was two).

Looking forward to watching Wendy and Angela battle it out at center.
