Mike Gesicki calls himself Gronk Jr (link)

Because your best two players, Donovan Smith and Miles Dieffenbach, have moved on. Of course, you don't agree that Smith was your top olineman. It will be interesting to see if NFL scouts agree with you next year. My money says that Mangiro wouldn't be picked before Donovan Smith was last year; that's if he gets drafted at all.

BTW, Rivals may have only had Mangiro as a "3 star", but both Scout and 247 not only had him as 4 stars but in their Top 100 recruits. Kudos to Rivals on this one.
Maybe you didn't read my post closely enough? I said that for all of his natural talent, Smith was a disappointment last year. He has a ton of natural ability and when motivated he can be an excellent player. If you look at the events leading up to the draft, Smith was a big riser. He shredded about 20 pounds from his last season and performed at the senior bowl like he had a purpose. That continued at the combine. The only reason he was not a first round pick was because of what I was talking about... he did not perform up to his talent level.

Mangiro is the opposite of Smith. He is not going to wow anyone physically but he is technically sound and a very smart player. As I stated earlier, he was forced to play four positions last year and did well at each. IMO, he has already lived up to his four star ranking. I don't expect for you to know much of anything about his performance so I'm glad I could help you out.

This is from NFL.com and sums up perfectly Donovan Smith:
Draft Analysis:
"Smith was a surprise entry into this draft since he had another year of eligibility at Penn State. Some thought he'd take advantage of that. But he came out and dominated at the Senior Bowl. He has long arms. He was a left tackle at Penn State, but he's a prototype right tackle. He'll be a starting right tackle and this guy can play. The question is, does he love football?" -- Mike Mayock

A Rutgers player's Analysis
Strengths
Above-average athleticism for the position. Quick release off the line and gets into routes with good play speed. Able to get yards after catch with quickness and some thump as a runner. Played from slot in 2013 and more in-line in 2014. Has speed and athleticism to threaten the deep middle. Tenacious blocker. Handled Michigan State DE Shilique Calhoun as run blocker. Blocks with good base and sustains blocks with strong hands. Not content to stalemate -- wants to win the play as blocker. Able to handle himself in pass protection using adequate footwork and technique. Played under Ron Prince and Brian Angelichio, who are now NFL tight end coaches.
Weaknesses
Appears on tape to have a limited catch radius. Too content to be body-catcher. Allows throws to get on top of him. Struggled with inconsistency on contested catches over the middle. Looked mechanical in his routes in 2014 compared to 2013. Needs to improve on spacial awareness against zone and work to clean spaces. Still learning to take more efficient angles to the second level as a run blocker.
Draft Projection :Round 5
Tyler Kroft was Picked in 3rd round

If BWI members want to talk about the current Nit players and how they are expected to play 9/19, GREAT.
But don't want to be reading interaction between BWI visitors over players who left, unless there's a connection to the upcoming Nit-Scarlet Knights game
( this is my own personal feelings and not a cease and desist order)
Other Scarlet Nation members might find the NFL Draft evaluation of a ex Nit player fascinating and agree talking about ex nits shouldn't be exclusive BWI property

jive, what is shocking is that you think that anything in that report, other than motivation being an issue with Donovan Smith, agrees with what you have said about him. You did not paint a picture of a player who would be a high 2nd round draft choice.

In fairness to jive, and I'm not just sticking up for my own here, no one really knew. Most people on BWI believed he would be a 3R or later. Personally, I said he would blow up the combine and someone would reach for him. The biggest question with Donovan has always been whether or not he is motivated. The combine was a perfect chance for him to get it all together and show out, which he did. There is no denying that he is a big, athletic kid.

He simply did not play like a guy who would be a 2nd round pick last year. As I said, he wasn't motivated and he was way overweight (played at around 355 last year).

Here are the final results of my analysis of the Northwestern game and the first halves of the Michigan and Maryland games. It's pretty self explanatory.

What was the deal with Bragalone? Not one D1A offer outside of Army. Kid had great numbers all around. PSU and RU showed interest.

Lack of wiggle. Basically most coaches thought he wouldn't be able to run over or around guys like he did at the single A level in high school. He was to small for a fullback. I don't count Military Acadamy offers because they can offer unlimited scholarship.

Against a Rutgers, Donovan Smith Smith played very well, which us why RU fans had a high opinion of him.

This. And it cannot be stressed enough how terrible his competition was. The JV teams in class AA could probably compete with those class A teams and have a lot of success.

Bragalone is where he should be right now (Lehigh).

This is a PSU board

Looks like it's turning into one because BWI doesn't allow honest discussions about the Nit FB program

edit: : the bad thing about that is some Nit trash make regular appearances here , adding nothing to the discussions, and only seek to cause trouble.

OK, jive, I finally found an NFL scouting service that agrees with you on Angelo Mangiro, I was frankly shocked how high they have him rated among the senior Centers in the nation.

I'm sure that a national writer has analyzed all of Mangiro's film and is not simply writing him off because of the performance of the OL unit as a whole, right?

Go back and look at the success rates. Note that Mangiro was moved from center to RT and still was the best OL on the field. Tell me again how he sucks?

So, a biased fan (who may even be Mangiro's mother, for all we know) "grades" him from the perspective of a TV camera and that is more credible than a national analyst - LOL!!!!!!

I'm sorry, what kind of analysis do you think the national guys do on offensive linemen? Do you think they sit there and do real analysis on these players?
