Nebby pulling the upset and everyone said they were awful

Big 10 may be down but there is no night you can take off and home court is huge in this league. So while we can feel good about tonights game, also consider other schools also have hope in their program

So the Gophers are not that good after all

They will be fine when all is said and done but losing to the preceived worst team in the league raises some big questions for little Ricky. For one I think their shoot first mindsetisn something that will get them far in the ncaa tournament

Nebby wins 78-68. We all pencilled them in as two easy wins...not so fast.

I'm hoping for 6-12 in conference. That doesn't include any road games as a win in that tally.

BAC or anyone that attended both FSU and MSU in person. Which game had the better crowd? I was at the game last night but I wasn't at FSU. Last night was fun, though they have the piped in music a little too over the top for my taste. The RAC doesn't need that to be raucous.

The Nebraska upset win is just another indicator of parity in the B1G and that no team should believe there are easy wins.Rutgers must have some upset wins to achieve a winning season because they will be the underdogs in most games.

It's an upset. Ball St beat #9 ND at ND last night. FSU crushed #5 Florida the other day. One game in December doesn't necessarily say anything either way.

And Penn State, another team projected in the bottom of the league, won at Iowa.

Our first 5 league games: At Minnesota, MSU, @ Purdue, @ MSU, Wisconsin. We can play well and still start off 0-5. Time for Rutgers to be the team pulling the upset.

I don't think PSU was projected that much lower than Iowa. Iowa was in the 7-8 range and PSU 9-10.

At this point I don't see us upsetting anybody. Doesn't mean we can't get better, but we don't do the little things necessary to win those games. Our defense and rebounding is keeping us in games, but we still have to figure out a way to score at the other end. Our opponents always seem to make the key basket at the right time and don't go thru scoring droughts like we do.
We're getting closer and it's nice to see us becoming competitive again. It finally feels like basketball season again on the banks. Enjoy it for now and better talent is coming.

overall crowd was bigger....6020 for MSU I think to 4800 for FSU although Sparty had at about 500 or more fans in the building. Students were great for both games. I think the lower sections in 100s while loyal...still tend to sit on their hands too much in a big game like this, there are times where I expected them to stand and they didnt. These crowds while better than the last 3 years pale in comparison to big game crowds during Bannon, Waters and especially Wenzel..the latter of which had easily the best atmospheres.

They started more of the piped in DJ music moreso for these two games I think specifically to recreate the atmosphere from the football stadium to the RAC. I generally dont like stuff like this but the students like it, gets them to the game and involved and then they probably want to come back again. The RAC turns into a club basically. Now going forward next year I would say ease up on that stuff and make it more about the game and RU cheers but its a good thing for now to keep them engaged. I bet you they scale it back for NJIT and FDU as less students show up and rev it up for SHU again

Penn State had aspirations for NCAA this yea. Iowa most likely will be at or near the bottom this year

Nebraska looked good. They took it to Minnesota offensively and defensively. They look big, strong and quick. I've only seen Nebraska play 1 game this year.

for NCAA purposes they are toast, disappointed in Fran, sure they will win upset someone at home and might get 6 Big 12 wins but he will once again go back to the hotseat

I think he underperformed in '14, '15, '16 with some decent talent. I am thinking he gets a few more years with this young team. if it doesn't work..........

Didn't he make the NCAA's in 14 and 15 ?

Yes...'14 team folded down the stretch losing 5 of last 6 and then losing Round 1 in B1G and opening round in NCAAs. had the 5th best offensive team in country that year, but 77th defensively

In '15 they improved the D to 34th in country and lost in 2nd round. Jarrod Uthoff was a very good player

In '16 they again faded down the stretch losing 5 out of 7, getting bumped in B1G 1st round. This got them a date in Round 2 with #1 seed Villanova.

two years without a NCAA bid will be enough in Iowa to put him on the hot seat for 2019, alot of these schools are less forgiving and Fran always seemed like a fish out of water in Iowa

We need to learn how to make a lay up and 1 foot put backs before we can upset anyone. They simply continue to blow easy scoring opportunities. They do all the hard work then when a bunny comes their way, they just choke for some odd reason. Once in a while, OK it happens, we however have made a habit of it.

True but that’s hard when you’re undersized and trying to make those bunnies on tall, athletic shot blockers. Jackson had 8 blocks by himself. And no coincidence that Minnesota was upset using a similar formula with their undersized power forward only shooting 4-12 against bigger players in the paint. Until Freeman passes the ball out and shots fall, he’ll keep getting smothered.
