With 200 mins in a game, IMHO, 95-100 have to go to Dylan, Ace and JWill. Another 40 to the 5 position, so mostly Ogbole and Sommerville. I know it will depend on opponent, type of scheme and athlete on the opponent, etc but in your opinion how do you distribute the other 60 mins among the other 5-6 players. I feel the rotation needs to be tightened as some of the roster has been disappointing and the season is 1/4 over now.

Don't know about the minutes, just phase out Martni and Acuff, and get PJ to rebound and defend so he can play more.

Dylan - 32
Ace - 32
JWill - 30
Ogbole/Sommerville - 35
Derkack - 22
Hayes - 14
Acuff - 14
Grant/Martini - 16
JMike - 5

For reference through a quarter of the season:
Dylan and Ace 34 each
Derkack 25
JWill 23
Martini and Sommerville 20 each
Hayes 16
Davis 15
Acuff and Ogbole 13 each

Keep playing Grant, increasing his role. He was inserted into the rotation against the aggies, and he did well despite a few very close missed shots. With more experience, he’ll hit those and could avg 10 pts pg.
Don’t know anything about the other kid, Dortch, but there’s nobody else to go to and we know none of the transfers can play against teams with a full roster of really good players.
We’re going to need 60-65 points pg from Dylan, Ace and JWill, and 15-20 points from the rest of the roster.

What we've seen so far (above 200 because of OT minutes):

33.9 - Harper
33.7 - Bailey
25.4 - Derkack
23.0 - Williams
19.6 - Martini
19.3 - Sommerville
16.5 - Hayes
14.8 - Davis
13.0 - Ogbole
13.0 - Acuff
8.5 - Grant

From what we've seen so far, I think we need to back down Martini and Hayes a bit, and bump up Williams, Ogbole, and Acuff.

I'd like to see something like:
32 - Harper
32 - Bailey
25 - Derkack
25 - WIlliams
20 - Sommerville
16 - Ogbole
16 - Acuff
12 - Hayes
10 - Martini
7 - Davis
5 - Grant

Grant is not ready. He can’t finish around the rim. Sure, he’ll improve but he should only see the floor in games like yesterday when our other bigs are in foul trouble.

I like this. Maybe a few more for Williams at the expense of Davis and give Grant more of a try at the expense of Martini?

Grant needs to ease in a bit more to the speed of live games; so far he's a warm body but not much more. Davis will need minutes just due to foul trouble and when we are facing a small, quick guard.

This will all absolutely change in 10 games, though, to be sure. This team is still very much a work-in-progress that is learning game to game, and comfort level and chemistry will improve.

I thought Grant played well on defense but agreed about the speed of the game but he definitely needs to play more his size is needed as Martini has been a bust

Davis should play 0 minutes, unless there is foul trouble with the guards. Provides nothing and is a terrible decision maker. Moves his legs like he’s playing D but he’s not effective.

Acuff- Appears hobbled. Havent watched any of his EMU play but he cannot defend or move around the court. Athletic teams are an o go for him, unless he's still recovering. Shown he can score but must be with righ opponent.

Martini- We thought we could get some 5 minutes, heady play and some 3s. Seems like he has been exposed, like Cliff was last year as to his limitations. There will be a game he will hit some 3s but small quick teams and athletic D teams like Bama Houston or a and m are a no go for him. Vegas weeke made him seem slower and more short armed than he is.

Acuff and martini minutes should be limited and situational.

Somerville: Just once would love to see the ball come out after going in to him. He can score, but forces some and more importantly, the rest of the platers go to sleep whn the ball goes in to him. D is where he needs to work as well as team play, but has talent and minutes should be commnesurate with D improvement and ball movement.

i don't think 60-65 points a game from the above named 3 players is realistic against B1G Ten competition unless they make at least seven 3 pointers .

it may not be realistic, but it may be our only path to the dance. We’ve seen what the others can do against good to very good teams, and it’s not pretty.

Separate Note: The guy we should be paying more attention to and be more excited about is Lathan. On the densive end, he needs to improve but not nearly as much as some make out. Offensively, he is a force, very tough to handle one-on-one in the post. He'll draw a fair number of doubles. He's still learning how to deal with that, but I'm confident it will come. That will give us the option of OCCASIONALLY posting him up. This plus decent shooting from 3 makes us a team with a lot of options: A starting fice of Dylan, Ave, JWill, maybe Hayes, and a wiser Lathan makes us very tough to defend. Don't forget, we've got four months of improvement from Ace and Dylan, and (fingers crossed) three months plus three years from LATHAN.

I think the first 5 through Ogbole are correct, although Ogbole might be coming on and jump Somerville. After that its really about who is playing well and matchups. If any one of Hayes/Acuff/Martini come of the bench and hit a 3 and aren't getting worked on D, they stay in. Grant could easily emerge, or look lost and stay planted on the bench. Davis looks like the odd man out (based on his horrible play).

The only thing certain is Martini's minutes need to go down substantially given his play over the last 4 games and his general inability to rebound and defend the post. Acuff really depends on whether he can get back into game shape after his injury - time will tell. I'm not ready to give up on Hayes yet, especially if teams zone us like A&M did. He had a rough shotting night, but he is the best 3 point shooter on the team.

I'm just going to point out that Grant is 0-7 FG, 0-2 3PT across the Wagner and TAMU games.

You mean Grant didn't excel shooting the ball against a top 20 A&M team after sitting pretty much all of his freshman season so far? I'm shocked!

He played well for coming in cold against a very tough team.
