Sanders is a T A L E N T. Period.

Not every 4 star puts up #'s like his....and imo he's only going to get better.

Is that the reason we'd keep EJ....plus the return of Freeman ??? / Doorson & incoming recruits?

I like EJ personally...and like the fact he graduated (he finally did, didn't he?) from RU. But unless we can hit a HOME RUN with the next coach....what difference does it make. The facilities have to be upgraded....when does that happen?

Recruiting has to go to another level: when does that happen?

We need to W I N: when does that happen?

We need to win at least 50% in B1G...??

But in order to accomplish the items above, you need talent / Corey's got IT!!!

You havent won a big to game with Sanders. Don't know why he was suspended. If he is trouble, you can do just as well without him.
 
I'd like to try to keep sanders and Freeman obviously. However, We should keep Jordan under NO circumstances. If they leave, they leave.

Sanders will stay.The only other alternative is to turn pro,& he is not ready and might not even get drafted.

I've said before and I'll say it again.. It would not be smart for Sanders to transfer. Transferring did nothing for Eli Carter. Didn't hurt him either. But there isn't a school in America that Sanders would get more time at. He's playing really well and having to sit out a year is would not be ideal. He's already the star player. Take a look at Sean Obi at Duke. He average about 14 points per game his freshman year at Rice, and not doesn't even play now. Sure getting a degree from Duke is great, but I'm sure he'd rather play. Even if a guy like Sanders were to find a team that is a "good fit," a lot can happen from the time he transfers to a new school until he can actually play.

If he's not ready for the NBA, he certainly isn't ready for Europe. They do play real basketball there, something he hasn't been acquainted with in his time at RU. Except for being on the wrong end of weekly B1G blowouts, that is.
 
I said this in another thread but when Hobbs fires EJ, he should agree to anyone who wants to transfer but with the stipulation they meet with the next coach first.

Ummm,

Europe is easier to play in. A few of my friends who couldn't sniff the NBA made a lot of.money in Europe
 
Europe is an option, but don't think many college players use that option after their freshman year.
 
If I am playing 5 card draw and am allowed to throw my entire hand in I do it. Everything and everyone, including Sanders. Building a program with Sanders as a foundation and you are down 40-10 at Northwestern.

It needs to get built the right way without shortcuts.

Playing overseas is a legitimate option for Sanders. There have been feelers out (as there are for other kids all over the country). An attractive component is you are paid well and do not have to worry about academics. The NBA has tons of folks scouting overseas so it is not as much of a negative as it was 20 years ago. He would play against strong competition and could potentially develop his game better overseas. The downside is that many kids are not sufficiently mature to handle being a professional anywhere, and particularly overseas with the substantial language and cultural challenges. If one really is prepared to focus and work hard on your game it can be a positive move. I am not certain Sanders has that level of maturity. He will likely receive interest and he will then decide.

I do not believe he will transfer to another college program. He does not want to sit out a year. It is possible, if the suspension is an indication he is not handling his academic responsibilities, that he could transfer to a high powered JUCO and play right away. I just think if academics are ok it will come down to RU or turning pro.

I do not believe Jordan's status will have much of an impact upon Sanders' decision. I suspect he would prefer Jordan to remain, but I do not believe it will have any material impact on any decision he makes.
 
My hope is that Hobbs has already been looking and talking to candidates. And when he makes the call he is able to get the new coach in immediately which would give that coach time with the current roster to convince them to stay.

Look--when rumors first surfaced about Flood being fired many were concerned that it would impact Anthony Russo's staying committed to Rutgers. So what happened? Flood's fired, Russo left for Temple, Ash is hired and I doubt any serious fan regrets the decision to can Flood. I'm sorry we lost Russo but the program is so much better off with Flood fired. The same outcome could happen here.

Need a new coach. Need Corey to stay. We can have both.

Anthony Russo is no Corey Sanders.
 
You have to hope that if a change is made, it's a coach of a caliber who can convince Sanders to stay. Not sure I'd be that worried one way or the other about any other guy on our roster other than perhaps Doorson (decent big people are hard to come by). Freeman hasn't shown he can play with the big boys; maybe he can, maybe he can't. Even Laurent has his limitations. Would love to keep all of these guys but if you lose Sanders, you're starting from square one.
 
You have to assume that if ej goes the players with options like laurent and sanders are gone. Id also assume anyone with 2 or more yoe who hasnt redshirted already is likely candidate to go. Some may stay but cant assume that all do. Cant see freeman or nigel leaving as they have 2 to play 2 and would thus forfeit 1 yoe

Would LIKE Sanders to stay. Don't need him too. We are starting from scratch anyway, next year will be more of the same, and I don't expect him to stay three more years anyway.

If Sanders stays and bigs improved, comes down to better defense and Freeman I hope who is healthy. And new coach.

want them all to stay but if they go so be it.

quite frankly all the players coming back will receive more playing time here with a new coach than they could anywhere else...so why wouldn't they want to stay

He needs to move on. We need a fresh start and a basketball program that does things the right way and doesn't take shortcuts. We can't have people we are relying on that we can't trust. Corey Sanders is gifted, but he can't do it alone.

If he stays what are the chances he plays 2 to 3 more years without incident? Why is he at Rutgers? I think over the past 2 weeks we got our answer.

I highlighted your miscue. [winking]

The 4-game suspension was four games because of what happened with the football team. It was a group decision. Discipline is of mucho importance at RU right now, with everyone from the president to the board of governors to the entire athletic department involved. I've been led to believe if it was only up to EJ, Sanders' punishment would have been much less (probably a 1-game suspension).

There's a difference: Russo did't have to sit out a year because he decommitted.
Sanders is already on the team and would.
If not for having to sit, Corey might be a prime candidate to transfer .
I think bdodger's post is closest to the mark when talking about Corey's options.
