More evidence of the importance of BIG membership

As a university, I've always thought the Big Ten is THE place to be for Rutgers. Looking more like one everyday...

Ummm .. this has nothing to do with us being in the Big Ten (unless you count using Northwestern, a private school, as a model). This has to do with bringing the medical schools into Rutgers.
It makes us more like a Big Ten school, but this didn't happen because we're in the Big Ten.

Thank you. I read the article twice trying to figure out where Rutgers being in the Big Ten played into this.
While this sounds like a great initiative by RWJ Barnabas and Rutgers, it seems to have nothing to do with the Big Ten.
Based on some of the comments to the article it sounds like they've got a good head start.
This is fantastic news when it comes to fruition. This reminds me a little bit of what NYU and USC has done in the last twenty years. They hired away some of the best minds from the Ivies and other private and state institutions and watched their academic prowess go up by leaps and bounds. This is a GREAT move by all parties concerned.
